The injury bug makes no distinction between who it ravages after virtually causing the cancellation of UFC 151 and the re-booking of the main, and co-main events, for next months UFC 153 event.

This time former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir (16-6) is the one who has been afflicted forcing him out of his Strikeforce debut versus Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier (10-0).

The details of the injury were not made public immediately, with MMAWeekly.com confirming the news with sources close to the fight.

Mir was to have faced Cormier on November 3, 2012 in the main event of Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was to have marked the first cross-over bout for a UFC fighter to fight under the Strikeforce banner, as well as marking Cormier’s final match on Showtime before signing with the UFC.

Cormier is undefeated with ten straight victories under his belt. He earned a unanimous decision over Josh Barnett last May in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix final, after defeating Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva and Jeff Monson to earn his way into the championship bout.

Mir also fought in May, replacing Alistair Overeeem at UFC 146 in a title bout with Junior dos Santos. JDS would finish Mir via second round TKO ending the former title holders three fight win streak. Mir earned a memorable victory last December by becoming the first fighter to submit Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira.
