Just a day after Kyle Nelson was forced out of UFC on ESPN 12 due to visa issues, the event – which is set to go down this Sat. night (June 27, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada – has suffered another unfortunate setback.

According to MMA Fighting, Miranda Maverick has been forced out of her fight against Mara Romero Borella, though the reason for her removal was not given.

Maverick (7-2) was set to make her Octagon debut after spending most of her career fighting for Invicta FC, going 6-2 including scoring a huge win over former UFC combatant, Pearl Gonzalez, in her last outing in February.

Now, the promotion is left scrambling for a late replacement willing to step in and take the fight at Flyweight on just a few days notice which, as we recently witnessed, isn’t always as easy as it seems. Nevertheless, if Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard are blowing up your phone, it’s a call you don’t want to ignore.

Just last week, Aspen Ladd was forced out of the event, as her fight against Sara McMann was scratched after Ladd suffered a brutal knee injury which will keep her sidelined for quite some time.

UFC on ESPN 12 will be headlined by a Lightweight tilt between former interim champion, Dustin Poirier, taking on Dan Hooker. The co-main event will see Mike Perry take on Mickey Gall in Welterweight action.
