Invicta FC 6 is all set for Saturday evening. The main event features the rematch between Marloes Coenen vs. Cris “Cyborg” Santos.
The evening got off to a rough start. Livia von Plettenberg missed weight by seven pounds for her atomweight clash with Cassie Robb. The fight had to be scrapped due to the weigh issue. The next bout’s weigh-in only saw Mollie Estes make the walk. Her opponent, Veronica Rothenhausler, passed out while cutting weight and was deemed medically unfit to fight.
Ashley Cummins vs. Emily Kagan was the first fight to weigh-in on target. That good feeling was short lived when late-replacement Tamikka Brents came in at 155.1 pounds for her featherweight tilt against Ediane Gomes. That fight is still on, but is now officially a lightweight bout.
The rest of the weigh-ins went off without a hitch. All of the pay-per-view bouts were made official.
The pay-per-view features nine fights. The co-main event was scheduled to be Carla Esparza defending her strawweight crown, but an injury forced her off the card. Now, top contender Ayaka Hamasaki faces off with Claudia Gadelha with the title shot on the line.
The aforementioned main event will determine the inaugural Invicta FC Featherweight Championship. Coenen made her Invicta debut at Invicta FC 1, and Cyborg entered the promotion at their last event. The collision course they were on is now here. Coenen and Cyborg fight for featherweight supremacy tomorrow night.
Invicta FC 6 begins on pay-per-view at 9 p.m. ET. It is available via several cable and satellite providers, and on Ustream.
