Ronaldo Jacare feels ready to take on Vitor Belfort in a striking match at UFC 198, in Brazil, on May 14.

In a clash of styles that will go down in May, Ronaldo Jacare believes he can hang with Vitor Belfort or any other striker when it comes to his stand up. That’s what he told Globo Esporte when talking about his upcoming bout against “The Phenom”.

“It will be a clash of styles. I have been evolving so much to the point I’m not inferior to anybody in the striking department anymore. I want to improve my game even more to get to that fight as ready as possible. This will be a fight determined by details and I will come out on top in the end.”

In a fight between two Brazilians in Brazil, Jacare believes the crowd will be divided, but that doesn’t bother him, as he feels he will win all fans over when he beats Belfort.

“Belfort is an icon in MMA. He has fans all over the world, but I believe the crowd will be divided on fight night. In the end, though, they will all be by my side celebrating my victory.”

Ronaldo Jacare is expected to take on Vitor Belfort at UFC 198 in a city yet to be determined, on May 14. The fight was originally the main event, but was demoted to co-main event when rumors of Fabricio Werdum defending his belt against Stipe Miocic on the same card came to surface. The title fight has not been confirmed yet.
