With this September’s upcoming UFC 151 event cancelled, co-headliners Jake ‘The Juggernaut’ Ellenberger (27-6) and Jay ‘The Thoroughbred’ Hieron (23-5) have seen their welterweight match moved to the UFC on FX 5 card scheduled for October.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship promotion announced the change Thursday afternoon, making it official at UFC.com.
While disappointed that they won’t be fighting each other on September 1st, welterweights Jake Ellenberger and Jay Hieron have found a home for what was supposed to be UFC 151′s main event, as they’ve been moved from the now cancelled card to October 5th’s UFC on FX event in Minneapolis, MN.
The Ellenberger vs. Hieron bout is one of the first matches to be rescheduled from the UFC 151 card, with UFC champ Jon Jones moving to the UFC 152 card for a rematch with Lyoto Machida.
UFC on FX: Browne vs. Bigfoot (UFC On FX 5) is expected to take place October 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ellenberger was originally supposed to face Josh Koscheck but a back injury forced the former welterweight contender off the card. Hieron was called on as a replacement and makes his first appearance inside the Octagon since October 2005 when he lost to Jonathan Goulet at UFN 2.
