Jan Blachowicz wants his next fight to be against the UFC’s light heavyweight king.

Jon Jones barely held onto his UFC light heavyweight title earlier this month, taking a split decision over the very hobbled Thiago Santos at UFC 239. With Santos shelved for well into 2020 following knee surgery, someone else presumably has to step up to the place to face Jones for his next defense.

Corey Anderson has been hounding Jones, but Dana White has seemingly shut that down. Another contender throwing his name into the hat is Jan Blachowicz, the Polish veteran who is coming off a spectacular KO of former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

Blachowicz tweeted out his case for getting the next title shot over the weekend.

“I’m not a Twitter keyboard warrior, don’t have [1 million Instagram] fans, I don’t drive a sports car with a gold chain around my neck,” Blachowicz said. “But I AM one of the TOP guys in my [division] and through my honest and hard work I’VE EARNED a [title shot]. I guarantee you a show worthy of UFC, Jon Jones – Here and NOW!”

Blachowicz followed up with a posted depicting a Jones vs. Blachowicz matchup.

As of the most recent UFC rankings update, Blachowicz is tied with the (supposedly retired) Alexander Gustafsson at #5 in the light heavyweight contender list. He’s won five of his last six bouts, with that one defeat coming by TKO to Thiago Santos earlier this year. After starting his UFC career 2-4, he has no doubt established himself as one of the best in his division.

Will that mean a title shot on a one-fight winning streak? That remains to be seen, but hey, it’s worth a shot if you’re Blachowicz.
