After making his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship last spring, Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald (24-14) had his dreams stopped after suffering a broken leg at UFC 113 against John Salter.
Now the Canadian will get a second chance in front of the Montreal fans when he faces Rafael Natal (12-3) at UFC 124: St-Pierre vs. Koscheck. The event is scheduled for Dec. 11th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
MMAFighting.com was the first to report the potential matchup and confirming the fight with Natal’s Management company, Dominance MMA in a Twitter post.
MacDonald suffered a TKO loss to Salter due to the broken leg at UFC 113 which ended a three fight win streak. “The Athlete” had wins over Matt Horwich, Vernon White, and Solomon Hutcherson in three separate MMA promotions in Canada. His last UFC bout was a loss to Nate Quarry at UFC 97, where he was TKO’d at the Montreal event.
Natal is also coming off a loss at the recent UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares event. He lost a unanimous decision to Rich Attonito in his UFC debut. Before that fight he had won two straight against Travis Lutter at the Moosin: God of Matial Arts event, and to Allan Welckert at a Ring of Combat 26 event.
