Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is questioning the possibility of Brock Lesnar getting a title shot next.

Since his loss to Stipe Miocic in 2017, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has gotten himself back on track. On Saturday, he was able to notch another win via second-round TKO against Tai Tuvasa in Adelaide, Australia.

“Cigano”, of course, is looking at the opportunities that will come his way after a two-fight win streak. However, he is not liking how the current title picture in the heavyweight division is looking, so far, given that current champion Daniel Cormier is adamant to make a fight against Brock Lesnar happen.

“The way I understand is that’s what Daniel Cormier wants to do to make money,” dos Santos said during the post-fight presser (transcript via MMA Fighting). “So somehow, people want to see that, because if they pay to see that it’s gonna be interesting for the UFC, of course.

“Somehow, Brock Lesnar sells. Somehow they want to see him fighting. I don’t know why. Why? Because he says stupid things? Because he’s a big guy who says stupid things? It doesn’t really make much sense for me.”

“Even because he doesn’t deserve to fight for the title. He has no record for that,” he added. “Also, because, man, he was out because USADA took him out. Not because he wants. USADA took him out and now he’s gonna come back and fight for the title. If MMA is a sport, a real sport, it doesn’t make any sense. But like I said, if people want to see that, we have to give [it to] them.”

If he won’t be getting a shot at the title anytime soon, dos Santos is looking to run it back with Alistair Overeem, instead.

“I think this rematch would make a lot of sense now. Overeem is a smart guy,” dos Santos said. “Every time he asks for something, it’s because he thinks it’s going to be better for him.

“I don’t do that type of shit. … I’m asking for him because it makes sense. In my mind, it makes sense to do this rematch right now.”

Dos Santos lost to Overeem via second-round TKO when they first faced each other in December 2015.
