“I’m disappointed to announce that unfortunately I have had to withdraw from my upcoming fight with Juliana Lima at UFC 197 due to an injury sustained during training. I tore my ACL and will be undergoing surgery this upcoming Tuesday to repair the injury and start the road to recovery. I have a great doctor and team around me, I’m confident that with their expertise, love and support, along with my determination to make a full recovery as fast as possible, I will be back in the Octagon before you know it. I’m focused on getting healthy and becoming the UFC Champion.”

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight contender Jessica Aguilar, 33, currently ranked No. 13 at 115 pounds, released a statement on her official Instagram page detailing the ACL injury that forced her to withdraw from the upcoming UFC 197: “Cormier vs. Jones 2” pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., April 23, 2016 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (details). That means promotion matchmakers are currently on the prowl for a new fighter to step in and trade blows with Juliana Lima. Aguilar (19-5) was last seen on the losing end of a unanimous decision to Claudia Gadelha at UFC 190 last August.
