Former WSOF champ Jessica Aguilar has pulled out of UFC 197 with a knee injury.
An important fight in the women’s strawweight division has been put on the back burner due to an injury. Jessica Aguilar, the former World Series of Fighting 115-pound champ, has had her second UFC fight cancelled because of a knee ailment she suffered in training. She was set to fight Juliana Lima.
MMA Fighting reported the unfortunate news.
The UFC is looking for a replacement so Lima can stay on the April 23rd card. Lima (8-2, 2-1 UFC) dropped a bout to current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her debut, but has picked up decision wins over Nina Ansaroff and Ericka Almeida since then.
Aguilar has had just one UFC fight thus far, dropping a decision to Claudia Gadelha. It is expected that she will undergo surgery for a torn ligament in her knee.
UFC 197 goes down in Vegas next month with two title fights on top – a rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones for the light heavyweight belt, and a flyweight title fight between champ Demetrious Johnson and challenger Henry Cejudo.
