It’ll be a fairly quick turnaround for Jimmie Rivera, as he’s set to fight John Dodson at UFC 228.

Two weeks after being knocked out in less than a minute, UFC bantamweight contender Jimmie Rivera has been booked for his next bout.

MMA Fighting reported on Thursday that Rivera is set to face John Dodson at UFC 228 on September 8th. UFC officials have yet to announce the matchup.

Rivera (21-2) lost via head kick and punches in 33 seconds to Marlon Moraes in the UFC Utica main event, ending his 20-fight winning streak. The 28-year-old is currently #5 in the official bantamweight rankings, having notably defeated Thomas Almeida, Urijah Faber, and Pedro Munhoz on his way towards the top.

Dodson (20-9) is coming off a split decision win over Munhoz, which represented the last fight of his old UFC contract. Having tested free agency, the former two-time flyweight title challenger agreed to a new deal with the promotion he’s been with since 2011. Dodson has not won consecutive fights since moving back up to bantamweight, going 3-2 overall.

There’s no word on the venue or location for UFC 228, but one fight also finalized for this card is a featherweight scrap between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez.
