An already thin UFC 258 main card has lost yet another matchup between two ranked fighters.

MMA Fighting confirmed on Tuesday that a bantamweight rematch between perennial contenders Jimmie Rivera and Pedro Munhoz has been postponed. The expectation is that it’ll be a part of UFC Vegas 20 on February 27 but nothing has been finalized as of yet. According to Globo, Rivera tested positive for COVID-19.

Rivera (23-4) snapped a two-fight losing skid against Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling with a much-needed unanimous decision over Cody Stamann at UFC Fight Island 1 last July. Munhoz (18-5) is currently on a two-fight losing streak after dropping decisions to Sterling and Frankie Edgar. The Brazilian notably holds a KO victory over Cody Garbrandt and was looking to avenge his 2015 split decision defeat to Rivera, but that’ll have to wait a little longer.

UFC 258 takes place on February 13th in Las Vegas and is still headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Kamaru Usman and former teammate Gilbert Burns. We hope. The original co-main between Chris Weidman and Uriah Hall was pushed back after Weidman’s positive COVID test, hence Maycee Barber vs. Alexa Grasso now gets co-main status.
