John Lineker vs. Ian McCall official for UFC Fight Night 56

A flyweight contender will get one step closer to a shot at the UFC title on November.

UFC officials announced on Thursday that John Lineker and Ian McCall are scheduled to battle at the UFC Fight Night card in Uberlandia, Brazil, on Nov. 8.

Lineker (24-7) enters the match-up coming off a TKO victory over Alp Ozkilic in July, bouncing back to the win column following a unanimous decision loss to Ali Bagautinov in February.

McCall (13-4-1) looks to extend his winning streak in Brazil after scoring back-to-back decision victories over Illiarde Santos and Brad Pickett inside the Octagon. The flyweight hasn’t lost since dropping a decision against Joseph Benavidez on February 2, 2012.

Hours before the announcement, McCall posted a gruesome photo on his Instagram page, revealing he suffered an infection after undergoing three surgeries.

“This was eight days ago and I’m all better now,” he wrote. “I had MRSA years ago so I’m very susceptible to things like this after it’s already in my system.”

UFC Fight Night 56 is scheduled to take place at the Tancredo Neves Gymnasium in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, and also features Rafael Cavalcante vs. Ovince St. Preux. Light heavyweights Mauricio Rua and Jimi Manuwa could headline the UFN card, but the bout is still in the works.
