Jon Jones goes on a tirade targeted at Israel Adesanya.

Reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has accused Jon Jones of running from him since the latter vacated his light heavyweight title last year in a bid for the heavyweight title.

With Jones looking to challenge the winner of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou sometime later this year, the UFC announced on New Year’s Eve that Adesanya would move up in weight to face Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight belt in a ‘Champ vs. Champ’ super fight at UFC 259 — and ‘Bones’ was sure to make his feelings known about the matchup on Twitter.

Jones unleashed a series of Tweets where he mocked Adesanya, Blachowicz and the overall state of the light heavyweight division, although he didn’t call out ‘The Last Stylebender’ by name.

“When I move, you move, just like that. Name another fighter who’s made more men retire, switch weight classes, or switch organizations all together. I’ll wait”.

“I left the LHW division because I was terrified of Dominic, even though Jan was guaranteed the next title shot. And then once the MW champ suddenly moved up, I knew I had made the right choice. Glad I decided to go the easy route.”

“I didn’t leave the light heavyweight division to challenge myself, I ran out of fear.”

“Yep, just couldn’t see myself beating Jan, his style is like nothing I’ve seen before and the thought of fighting a middleweight striker in 2021 was the final straw, figured Francis take down defense was worse, had to run,” Jones posted in his final Tweet of the night.

Jones hasn’t fought since his title defense against Dominick Reyes last year, which saw the JacksonWink standout earn a controversial unanimous decision victory in the UFC 247 main event.

UFC 259: Blachowicz vs. Adesanya is expected to take place on March 6 at a TBD location.
