Six years later, Jon Jones is still taking shots at “hater” Daniel Cormier.

Six years ago, Jon Jones faced Daniel Cormier for the first time at UFC 182, taking a unanimous decision and handing “DC” the first loss of his MMA career. To mark the occasion, the long time light heavyweight champion took shots at Cormier on social media.

While most consider it to be one of the most heated rivalries in UFC history, Jones says it shouldn’t even be called that as Cormier is winless against him. In trademark Jones fashion, he deleted those tweets shortly after.

“On this day in history, I created a hater forever.”

“Stipe is your rival I’m your superior.”

“Don’t confuse a season with forever.”

He also deleted a tweet with a single laughing emoji, with only one of these jabs remaining on his timeline (as of this writing).

The pair fought twice, with Jones getting his hand raised on both bouts. The second victory in 2017 was overturned to a No Contest though, after Jones failed yet another drug test and tested positive for an anabolic steroid.

Cormier, who went on to win titles in two divisions, and eventually retired in 2020 after dropping a decision to Stipe Miocic. Jones on the other hand, is said to be looking to become a double champ as well, and could get the next heavyweight title shot after Francis Ngannou.
