Jorge MasvidalAmerican Top Team fighter Jorge ‘Gamebread’ Masvidal (21-6) is ready to show everyone that he is one of the top fighters in the World when he meets K.J. Noons this Saturday. He and Noons are scheduled to fight on the Showtime televised card of the Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum event on June 18, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Despite an up-and-down career over the last few years, Masvidal feels that he’s put his record, and past inconsistencies behind him. The Cuban-American is ready to prove his standing among the worlds elite one fight at a time until everyone recognizes him as “the number one guy.”

A win over Noons would certainly help his ranking, as both men are fighting for a top contender spot to meet Strikeforce lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez.

Speaking to Strikeforce.com, Masvidal talked about spending his life fighting and his quest for number one.

“Any fight in Strikeforce that they would have announced for me would have been my golden ticket,” said Masvidal. “I’m just happy that I’m getting to fight, but yeah, I definitely like fighting KJ. He’s a tough durable guy that likes to come forward and bang, so I’m gonna use my jab and movement and capitalize on everything that he messes up on.”

“I always said to myself that if I prepare right, I think I can take on anybody,” said Masvidal. “But saying it means nothing because I’ve been a little inconsistent in the past, so I just gotta go out there and prove it. Take care of KJ, take care of Melendez, take care of whoever else they offer me, and the next guy and the next guy until the people say I’m the number one guy.”
