UFC 149 event in Calgary this July, when he defends his title versus team Roufusport fighter Erik ‘New Breed’ Koch (13-1) at the Canadian event.

UFC president Dana White had talked of moving Aldo to the UFC 147 card in Brazil after the main event bout between middleweight champ Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen was moved to UFC 148.

News of the fight was announced by MMAjunkie.com after they confirmed the event/date with “multiple sources.”

UFC 149 is expected to take place on July 21, 2012 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Aldo defended his title last January in Rio de Janeiro, after knocking out number one contender Chad Mendes in the final seconds of their UFC 142 main event bout. It was the 145-lb champions third straight win in the Octagon and his fourteenth overall.

Koch will enter this fight with four straight wins, three of them finishes, with two “Knockout of the Night” victories. His most recent win took place last September over Jonathan Brookins, a decision victory at UFN 25. ‘New Breed’ had been scheduled to appear on the UFC 143 card versus Dustin Poirier, but an injury forced him off the card.
