Metamoris has officially announced the full card for its next edition.
Scheduled for May 9, Metamoris 6 will be headlined by heavyweight champion Josh Barnett putting his title on the line against ADCC absolute winner Roberto Abreu. City and venue are yet to be announced. Metamoris 6 airs live on pay-per-view.
Barnett won the Metamoris heavyweight title by submitting Dean Lister with 12 seconds left in their match last September. “Cyborg” Abreu, who competed only once under Metamoris rules, looks for his first win since a disappointing draw against Brendan Schaub.
In the co-main event, Chael Sonnen returns to the mats to face off against fellow UFC veteran Renato Sobral. “Babalu”, who tapped Sonnen with a triangle choke in 2005, makes his promotional debut, while Sonnen makes his return after a submission loss to Andre Galvao.
Another UFC veteran set to make his Metamoris debut is Joe Lauzon, who meets Dillon Danis. Winner of 13 post-fight bonuses in the UFC, Lauzon’s Metamoris match will be contested at 170 pounds.
Five-time jiu-jitsu world champion and two-time ADCC gold medalist, Alexandre Ribeiro returns to Metamoris against Keenan Cornelius. “Xande” has yet to win a match in the promotion, going the distance with Dean Lister and Rodrigo Medeiros, while Cornelius is 1-0-2 under Metamoris rules.
Roberto Satoshi, who battled Jake Shields to a draw at Metamoris 5’s secret match in November, is now set to compete against Clark Gracie.
The last match added to the card features former UFC heavyweight title contender Jeff Monson. His opponent is not knows yet, as he has to wait for Metamoris to crown the winner of Road To Metamoris tournament.
