Several matches were made official for the upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 3 event set for Virginia this upcoming May.
Looking for his first win in the Octagon will be lightweight fighter, and WEC veteran, Kamal ‘The Prince of Persia’ Shalorus (7-2-2) who takes on BJJ black belt Rafael dos Anjos (15-6).
The bout was announced at UFC.com on Wednesday.
In other lightweight action on FUEL TV, ….and wrestler/brawler Kamal ‘Prince of Persia’ Shalorus will meet BJJ black belt/brawler Rafael Dos Anjos.
UFC on FUEL TV 3 is expected to take place on May 15, 2012 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. The show now features a twelve bout card with no official main event which could be a featherweight match between Dustin Poirier vs. Chan Sung Jung, or a lightweight title between Donald Cerrone vs. Jeremy Stephens.
Shalorus is 0-2 in the Octagon having moved over with the rest of the WEC cast early last year. The Iranian born fighter debuted in the Octagon at UFC 128 in March, losing to Jim Miller by third round TKO. ‘The Prince of Persia’ then went on to suffer a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at last months UFC on FX 2 card. Shalorus had his last win in December 2010, a split decision win over Bart Palaszewski.
Dos Anjos is 1-2 in his last three bouts, having lost a split decision to Gleison Tibau in November at UFC 139. The Brazilian earned a win in the previous match, KOing George Sotiropoulos at UFC 132 in the first round of their match. Dos Anjos sports a 4-4 record overall in the Octagon since joining the UFC back in November 2008.
I’m going to pick Shalorus in this one, he’s due for a win and was undefeated before he entered the UFC. As long as he can stay away from dos Anjos’ submission game he should be able to pull off a decision win.
