A big women’s flyweight matchup is lined up for May 15th.

The UFC is getting to work on its May pay-per-view, and one of the key bouts on the card is expected to be in the women’s flyweight division.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported Wednesday that a matchup between former title challenger Katlyn Chookagian and rising Brazilian contender Viviane Araujo is being finalized for May 15th. MMA Junkie noted that date is being labeled as UFC 262.

Chookagian (15-4) took on champion Valentina Shevchenko last February, losing by third-round TKO in a rather predictably one-sided fight. No worries for “Blonde Fighter,” as she dispatched Valentina’s sister Antonina by unanimous decision in her next fight. After a TKO loss to Jessica Andrade, Chookagian bounced back with a unanimous decision over Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 255.

Araujo (10-2) is 4-1 in the UFC, with her lone defeat coming against Jessica Eye. She made a big splash in her Octagon debut with a KO of Talita Bernardo, then followed it up by dispatching Alexis Davis. In her last two fights, she’s taken decisions over Montana De La Rosa and Roxanne Modafferi.

Current rankings have Chookagian at #2 while Araujo is #7, and while Chookagian already had her title shot against Shevchenko, Araujo could certainly add her name to the list of potential challengers with a win this May.

No other fights have been linked to UFC 262.
