UFC 300 was special for a variety of reasons, including its huge bonus increase.

The Baddest Motherf—ker (BMF) title tilt between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway stole the show and its build up earlier this month (April 13, 2024). Special suggestions were made ahead of the fight, like having UFC Hall of Famer, Mark Coleman, wrapping the belt around the winner’s waist and raising the Performance and Fight of the Night bonuses from $50,000 to $300,000. Both of which came to fruition.

Unfortunately for every fighter who missed out on the UFC 300 action, they’ll have to continue competing for the comparatively meager $50,000. Welterweight veteran, Tim Means, is pushing for it to stay as it last was for UFC 300 as he gears up to battle Uros Medic at UFC Vegas 91 this weekend (Sat., April 27, 2024).

“Where are those guys? I hope y’all keep the same energy and show up with $300,000 bonuses,” Means said at UFC Vegas 91 media day. “Don’t mess around. Let’s talk about it. Let’s at least sit down in the room whenever we do our rules meeting over here Saturday night, and let’s have a discussion. Yeah? Right? Damn right.

“It can’t go back,” he continued. “It’s not bragging if you’re backing up. For real. What’re we doing? What’re we talking about here? Keep it the same. Same energy. You want to see some fun fights in the Apex? Guys always show up and throw hooks. These shows are usually funner than most pay-per-views. Pay-per-view that week, you know, it was cool. Alright, some guys threw down, but was it really that good? I don’t know. Apex would be good. Let’s find out.”

Means, 40, has been a consistently entertaining fighter throughout his 28-fight UFC career (15-12, 1 no contest, 33–15–1, 1 no contest overall) across two stints. Means has won two Performance of the Night bonuses in UFC and earned Fight of the Night honors in his last time out, a third round knockout of Andre Fialho at UFC Vegas 79 in September 2023.
