Khabib Nurmagomedov has opened as the betting favorite over Georges St-Pierre.
Talk of a potential superfight between reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former welterweight and middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre has made the rounds again, with UFC president Dana White saying he is open to the idea for Khabib’s 30th fight.
“Sure. Yeah, it’s the last fight of his career. The guys been great. He’s been great to the company, he’s been great for the sport, and, I like Khabib Nurmagomedov a lot. I would do anything Khabib wanted to do.”
Khabib also recently left a comment on Joe Rogan’s Instagram post where he hinted at defending his lightweight title against St-Pierre after the Gaethje bout.
With this potential megafight back in the headlines, bookmakers Sportsbetting.ag have released odds for the matchup, with Khabib opening as the -200 favorite and St-Pierre the +170 underdog.
St-Pierre retired in 2019 after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, but the pound-for-pound great said he would come out of retirement to challenge Nurmagomedov, the current UFC lightweight champion who’s undefeated after 28 professional fights. St-Pierre last fought in 2017, when he submitted Michael Bisping with a rear-naked choke in the UFC 217 main event to capture the middleweight title.
UFC 254: Khabib vs. Gaethje is scheduled to take place on October 24 at a TBD location.
