Randy Costa proved he’s the real deal earlier tonight (Sat., Sept. 19, 2020) at UFC Vegas 11 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the bantamweight prospect ended Journey Newson via head-kick knockout just 41 seconds into the first round.
This one didn’t take long as Costa started to stalk Newson from the opening bell. With a much larger reach, Costa was able to find his rhythm sooner and launched a beautifully-timed head kick that sneaked over the right arm of Newson. Newson fell to the canvas like a sack of potatoes and Costa was there to follow up with two hard punches before the stoppage.

With this performance, Costa earns his second-straight knockout finish as a member of the UFC roster after taking out Boston Salmon in the first round last October. The surging 26-year-old bantamweight has now finished all of his six pro wins by first-round knockout and looks to be a real threat at 135 pounds. It will be interesting to see where the promotion slots him after this impressive outing over a tough and hungry prospect.
