Takashi Sato scored a beautiful TKO finish earlier tonight (Sat., June 27, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 12 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he clobbered late-notice replacement Jason Witt just 40 seconds into the first round.
Sato didn’t waste much time landing a massive left hand that put Witt to the canvas. He followed up with relentless combinations and ground-and-pound and eventually forced the referee’s hand. Witt only had a few days to prepare for this fight so the outcome wasn’t completely surprising.

With this performance, Sato gets back into the UFC win column after getting submitted by Belal Muhammad last September. The Japanese veteran has always shown the power to move up the welterweight ranks but it’s been his consistency that needs work. If Sato can piece a few more finishes together heading into next year he could turn into a nice top 15 option.
