Korean Zombie details catastrophic knee injury, UFC fan-favorite sidelined indefinitely

Chan Sung Jung will once again be forced to ride the pine for an extended period of time after “Korean Zombie” suffered numerous injuries that forced him out of his scheduled fight against Ricardo Lamas, which was set for UFC 214 on July 29, 2017 in Anaheim, California.

But just how bad are Jung’s injuries? The exciting fan-favorite and top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight contender took to Instagram to break it all down. And it’s no bueno.

It truly is bad news for Jung, who just recently came back form a 3.5-year hiatus from fighting to fulfill his military duties in South Korea, taking out Dennis Bermudez at UFC Fight Night 104 this past February (see it). This setback is just the latest injury suffered by Jung, who has been plagued by one unfortunate setback after another throughout his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

With no timetable available for his Octagon return, “Korean Zombie” faces an uphill battle and a lengthy rehabilitation process that could potentially keep him out until late 2018. Aside from the personal blow to Jung, his absence is a huge hit to UFC’s 145-pound division, which this past weekend (Sat., June 3, 2017) entered the Max Holloway Era after “Blessed” knocked out Jose Aldo at UFC 212 to become the undisputed division champion.
