The UFC is heading back to South Korea with an intriguing bout for their main event.
The UFC previously revealed plans to head back to South Korea on December 21. The show, which will happen at the Sajik Arena in Busan, now has a headliner officially booked.
Local favorite “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung is set to compete in his home country as he faces Brian Ortega. The event will be broadcast on ESPN+ and this bout between fellow former featherweight title contenders will serve as the show’s main event.
This would be Ortega’s first fight since losing his shot at the belt in December 2018. Prior to losing that championship bout to Max Holloway, Ortega was a perfect 14-0, going undefeated in eight UFC appearances.
Jung, on the other hand, is coming off a TKO win over Renato Moicano last June. The victory improved his recent record to 2-1 since his title bout with then champion Jose Aldo and subsequent hiatus (due to mandatory military training in South Korea).
Ortega and Jung are ranked as the number two and six featherweights, respectively.
Previously announced bouts for the Busan event include Alexandre Pantoja vs. Matt Schnell and Volkan Oezdemir vs. Aleksandar Rakic.
