Larissa Pacheco’s long neck helped Jessica Andrade at UFC Fight Night 51

BRASILIA, Brazil — Being taller and having a longer reach doesn’t always pay off in the UFC.

Brazilian brawler Jessica Andrade met previously unbeaten countrywoman Larissa Pacheco at Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 51 in Brasilia, Brazil, and she credits Pacheco’s neck for her submission victory.

“Guillotine is my specialty. I love it. I always try that guillotine in my fights,” Andrade told MMAFighting.com Saturday. “I realized she has a long neck, so I went for it [laughs].”

Four of Andrade’s previous five submission victory also came with a guillotine choke, but that wasn’t the initial strategy she had planned for the bantamweight clash.

“I was planning to stand up and fight, but I ended up taking her down and submitting,” she said. “I was expecting a brawl, but when we got closer to the fence, the type of takedown I like, I took her down. I worked with some ground and pound, got her tired, and then locked the guillotine.”

“Bate Estaca” told MMAFighting.com prior to this bout that she needed two more years before facing UFC champion Ronda Rousey. Now riding a three-fight winning streak under the UFC banner, Andrade won’t call anyone out just yet.

“I won’t pick fights right now. I’ll do whatever the UFC tells me,” she said. “They are giving me tough girls, and I’m doing great fights, so I’ll continue this way. I won’t choose opponents. Whoever they give me, I’ll take it.”
