Three years after Woodley knocked out Lawler in the first round, the two welterweights will face off for a rematch in Minneapolis.

Just four weeks removed from losing the welterweight title to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235, Tyron Woodley has accepted his next fight.

ESPN confirms Woodley will face Robbie Lawler on June 29th at UFC on ESPN 4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The fight between the two is a rematch, with their first bout going down at UFC 201 in July of 2016. Woodley won that contest via knockout just 2:12 into the first round, taking the 170 pound strap off Lawler in the process.

Watch the highlights here:

That loss to Woodley was the start of a 1-3 skid for Lawler, who also suffered a bad knee injury that kept him out for all of 2018. In his return fight against Ben Askren at UFC 25, Lawler mauled Askren early, only to fall victim to a controversial stoppage when Askren caught him in a bulldog choke.

UFC president Dana White initially hoped to set up an immediate rematch between the two, but Ben Askren didn’t sound very interested in that. White has since moved on to working on an Askren vs. Masvidal fight for the wrestling standout’s next match.

According to ESPN, the Lawler vs. Woodley bout is verbally agreed to but not signed.
