Leandro Silva on bizarre UFC Fight Night 62 finish: ‘I feel I’m the winner’

RIO DE JANEIRO — Leandro Silva vs. Drew Dober ended in controversy, but “Buscape” sees no reason for that.

The lightweight clash ended at 2:45 of the second round when referee Eduardo Hendy stopped the action with Silva locking a guillotine. According to the referee Dober was out. However, it’s pretty clear that that’s not the case.

“I’m paid to fight,” Silva told the media after the fight in Rio de Janeiro. “If the referee thought he had to stop the fight, I have to accept. I locked the guillotine, pulled guard, and felt he was soft. I couldn’t see if he was out or not. My coaches said he was out, and the referee stopped it, so it’s over.”

UFC president Dana White doesn’t agree with Silva, though, going on Twitter to say Hendy should never referee a MMA fight again.

“I’m cool with that. I did my job,” Silva said of White’s tweet. “I train four times a day and I’m here to fight.”

After all the controversy, Silva is open to a rematch.

“I’m ready to fight anyone,” he said. “I will show I’m one of the best in this division, that I’m the best. I have to fight everyone. I feel I’m the winner. If he wants a rematch, it’s going to end bad for him because I will beat him in the first round.”
