The memorable finishes poured in last night (Fri., Jan. 12, 2018) at LFA 30 from Costa Mesa, Calif., as headliner Curtis Millender scored a sick head kick knockout over Nick Barnes and Christian Aguilera finished Maicon Mendonca just 27 seconds into the first round.
Millender, 30, utilized strong kicks from the opening bell, but really found a home for his attacks in the second round. Following a leg kick by Barnes that left the veteran’s hands down, Millender launched a devastating head kick (shown above at the 3:20 mark) that instantly detached “Phoenix” from reality.
Aguilera, 26, turned in an equally effective finish much quicker than Millender did. The 26-year-old lightweight prospect dropped Mendonca directly out of the gate and never looked back. After Mendonca returned to his feet, Aguilera blasted him with a perfect right hand (shown above at the 0:48 mark) that crumbled the Brazilian back into the cage.
It was quite the performance for both fighters, especially considering the eight-fight card produced two other knockout finishes and a 90-second submission.
Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) will return to action for LFA 31 on Jan. 19 from inside Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, as featherweight submission expert Bobby Moffett takes on knockout specialist Thanh Le.
