Liam McGeary injured, scratched from Bellator 185 fight against Bubba McDaniel

Bellator 185: “Mousasi vs. Shlemenko” goes down at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Oct. 20, 2017, featuring former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (42-6-2) against ex-Bellator MMA Middleweight kingpin Alexander Shlemenko (56-9, 1 NC) in the Spike TV-televised main event.

Originally this card was set to showcase two more former mixed martial arts (MMA) champions as Liam McGeary (12-2) was to meet Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (21-6, 1 NC) in a 205-pound showdown. However, that fight fell through when Lawal withdrew with and injury and Bubba McDaniel agreed to step in to replace him on short notice.

Unfortunately, even that back up plan now needs a back up plan as McGeary also withdrew from Bellator 185 due to injury. As a result, that fight has been scratched from the card entirely and McDaniel will be given a Bellator MMA fight on a future card. Bellator still needed one more fight for the Spike TV card, though, so a Flyweight bout between boxing star Ana Julaton (14-4-1 boxing, 2-2 MMA) and Lisa “Insane” Blaine (1-0) takes its slot.
