A light heavyweight bout has been announced for this May’s upcoming UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Silva II event pitting Ryan ‘Darth’ Bader (15-3) and Glover Teixeira (20-2) against one another.
News of the bout was announced late Tuesday night by MMAFighting.com.
UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Silva II is expected to take place on May 25, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will see UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez defend his title versus Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in a rematch, while former champ Junior dos Santos takes on Alistair Overeem in the co-main event.
The bout between Bader and Teixeira is certain to appear on the main card broadcast.
Bader is 3-1 in his last four matches and enters this bout on a win after submitting Vladimir Matyushenko last month in 50-seconds with a guillotine choke. The victory also earned Bader the “Submission of the Night” bonus for the UFC on FOX 6 event. Previous to that Bader had been knocked out by Lyoto Machida in August at UFC on FOX 4.
Teixeira also appeared at last months FOX event, earning a unanimous decision against former champ Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at the Chicago show. The win was Teixeira’s third straight in the Octagon and eighteenth in a row. In that stretch the Brazilian earned all but two victories by stoppages, either (T)KO or by submission.
