Up-and-coming lightweight dynamo Sage Northcutt put the 155-pound division on notice following impressive back-to-back performances over Francisco Trevino and Cody Pfister. And pretty soon, he may be doing it to the welterweight division, as well.

The 19-year-old phenom recently told Fighters Only that while he’s comfortable at 155 pounds, he wouldn’t be opposed to moving up in weight at some point down the road.

And he may not have a choice in the matter, as the youngster’s body is still growing and may have a harder time making the cut down to lightweight in a few short years.

His words:

“I could see that. Right now I’m at 155 pounds but I’m only 19 and my body’s still growing. Maybe I’ll move up to welterweight in four or five fights as I may be much bigger in a year or two’s time. I wont rule anything out. I would naturally weigh around 180 pounds outside of competition.”

Sage will look to make it three straight wins, as he is expected to make a quick turnaround to face fellow undefeated prospect Andrew Holbrook (11-0, 1-0 UFC) at UFC on FOX 18 on Jan. 30, 2016 in Newark, New Jersey.

While it’s still too early in Northcutt’s UFC career to determine whether or not he’s championship material at 155 pounds, it will be interesting to see if he can make a splash against the bigger boys of the UFC’s welterweight division if and when the time comes for a change in scenery.
