Bellator MMA is once again going back across the pond to stage an event for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began … and its bringing a big fight in tow. The promotion recently announced the booking of a Welterweight bout between top contenders Douglas Lima and Michael Page. Of course, the fight is a rematch two years in the making after Lima initially defeated “Venom” via second round knockout at Bellator 221 in what was the semifinal round of the Welterweight Grand Prix.

Lima eventually went on to defeat Rory MacDonald in the finals to capture the title. As for Page, the loss was the first and only setback of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, snapping his 14-fight win streak. Since then, “Venom” has gone on to rack up five straight wins and was last seen re-arranging Derek Anderson’s face at Bellator 258 a few months ago (see it).

Lima, meanwhile, hasn’t had the best run as of late. After winning the 170-pound strap, he failed in his bid to capture the Middleweight title, too, losing to Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 250. More recently, “Phenom” coughed up his 170-pound title to Yaroslav Amosov at Bellator 260 just last month.

With Lima and Page ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, the winner of this rematch should be in line to challenge for the belt. Predictions?
