Live Chat: Bellator 120 preview, UFC Fight Night 40 recap and more

It’s finally upon us, albeit in a slightly Frankenstein’d version. The first foray into pay-per-view for Bellator is this weekend and there’s a lot on the line. That’s especially true considering one-half of the main event in Eddie Alvarez is on the card, forcing Bellator to limp to the starting line to kick this off.

The key consideration to think about isn’t whether ‘Bellator’ as such can make money in pay-per-view. The question is whether Viacom, a multi-billion dollar company is going to continue its investment in mixed martial arts if they can’t recoup their investment in Bellator’s growth. At it’s basic core, Bellator is a sustainable business. But an expanded Bellator with high-priced acquisitions and increased television production assets needs to make more. If it can’t now doesn’t determine if it can’t ever, but one has to worry about what it means for the long term.

We also have to go over all the results from UFC Fight Night 40, an event which say everyman hero Matt Brown surge back from the precipice of defeat to exact a particularly brutal form of retribution on Erick Silva.

There’s a lot going on, so join me today to discuss all of this and more. In terms of today’s chat, anything is up for discussion, but I will lead with this and it all kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.

As is customary, I’ll post the video window here as the event draws near and I’ll answer any questions you may have if you post them in the comments section below. Be sure that you click the ‘rec’ button for those comments/questions you believe most deserve a response.

Be sure to link this page and use the hashtag #chatwrappers on Twitter or even Facebook when you’re watching this to let everyone know you’re taking part is this activity of ours.

Talk with you all at 1 p.m. ET.
