Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane LIVE results and play-by-play updates stream: Follow along below as “Bones” makes his long-awaited return to competition atop the UFC 285 pay-per-view (PPV) card. Jones and Gane are battling for the vacant heavyweight strap, abandoned by former champion Francis Ngannou when “The Predator” failed to come to terms on a new UFC contract. Before that five-round title fight gets underway, reigning women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will put her 125-pound belt on the line opposite No. 6-ranked division contender, Alexa Grasso. Geoff Neal vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov and Jalin Turner vs. Mateusz Gamrot will also see main card PPV action in “Sin City.”

UFC 285’s five-fight PPV main card is set to pop off TONIGHT (Sat., March 4, 2023) at 10 p.m. ET from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and we’re going to bring you LIVE results and real-time play-by-play updates below, starting with the middleweight collision between collegiate wrestling standout, Bo Nickal, and 185-pound veteran, Jamie Pickett. 265 lbs.: Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane for vacant heavyweight title

Round 1: They trade low kicks to start and Gane’s catches Jones in the cup. Solid counter right from Jones when they resume. Johnes ties up a minute in and muscles Gane to his knees. Gane tries to work his way up against the fence, ends up on his seat. Jones looking for a guillotine on a seated Gane, adjusts to get the forearm in deep, and he’s got it.

Final result: Jones def. Gane by submission (guillotine choke) — WATCH HIGHLIGHTS!


125 lbs.: UFC Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko vs. Alexa Grasso

Round 1: Low kick from Grasso. Both women standing southpaw. Shevchenko tries a spinning back fist, lands a body kick. They collide a minute in. Shevchenko wheel kick goes high, low kick connects. Low kick from Grasso in return. Mostly sparring so far. There’s a 1-2 from Grasso two minutes. Hard lead left that Shevchenko tries to answer with counters. Solid 2-3 from Grasso. Shevchenko comes back with a jab through the guard. Two minutes to go.

Brutal 1-2-3 from Grasso, best shots of the fight. Shevchenko combo can’t connect, Grasso comes back with an orthodox 1-2. 1-2 again and she backs away from the return fire. Shevchenko tries a head kick. One minute to go. Body kick from Shevchenko met by a double jab. Elbow on the break. Quick 1-2 by Shevchenko. Grasso hauls her to the fence, lands knees, and fights off a throw at the bell. 10-9 Grasso.

Round 2: Grasso back in southpaw. Shevchenko ducks a left hand to take her down into guard. One minute in. Shevchenko passes to side control, looks for the crucifix. Two minutes in. She tries for scarf hold. Grasso manages to spin and return to her feet, landing a good left hand on the exit. Two minutes to go.

Both land low kicks. Falling short with their punches. Grasso way short with a wheel kick. One minute to go. Quick combo on the fence by Grasso. Shevchenko times another left hand and trips her into half guard. 10-9 Shevchenko.

Round 3: Quick jabs landing for Shevchenko. 1-2 from Grasso. Heavy exchange a minute in, Shevchenko gets the better of it. She shoots, denied. Grasso pushes forward, lands a good straight left, eats a glancing head kick. She backs out of a clinch after they collide. Reactive double-leg puts Shevchenko on top again two minutes in. Full guard, landing short shots as Grasso holds her close. Two minutes to go.

Shevchenko continuing to work from the top. Nice elbow. Ref stands them up as Shevchenko is landing ground-and-pound, much to the crowd’s anger. Grasso goes back to pursuing, but after some quick exchanges, Shevchenko blasts through for another takedown and latches onto her back. Grasso slips out and tries a last-second guillotine. 10-9 Shevchenko.

Round 4: Grasso pushing forward aggressively. Shevchenko tries a spinning back kick. Jab exchange. Shevchenko shoots, denied. Grasso body shots met by jabs a minute in. 1-2 falls short. Lull in the action as they feint at each other from out of range. 1-2 from Grasso two minutes in. Jabs from Shevchenko. She shoots, denied, throws a front kick downstairs. More quick jabs. Grasso shoots and puts her on the fence with two minutes to go.

They separate 30 seconds later and Shevchenko goes back to the jab. Grasso goes to the body. Shevchenko fires a spinning back kick that goes wide and Grasso uses the opportunity to jump on Shevchenko’s back with a minute to go. The RNC isn’t under the chin, but it’s getting tighter and tighter, and Shevchenko is forced to tap. Alexa Grasso joins Brandon Moreno as Flyweight champion with probably the most unexpected method of victory.

Final result: Grasso def. Shevchenko by submission (rear naked choke)


170 lbs.: Geoff Neal vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov

Round 1: Rakhmonov tries a head kick before tying up. Knee to the body, gets reversed against the fence. Another knee on the exit. Solid right hand at distance a minute in. Rakhmonov body kick met by a sharp combo. Solid counters from Rakhmonov, who eats a low kick and comes back with straight rights. Over-unders in the clinch, can’t find the outside trip. 1-2 when they separate two minutes in. Straight left from Neal, tries a head kick behind it. Quality exchanges. Both men double up their power hand in sequence. Hard left by Neal on the exit. Both land hard body kicks with two minutes to go.

Rakhmonov body shot met by a left upstairs. Counter hook by Neal, 2-1. Rakhmonov fires a head kick and ties up, then gets reversed on the fence. One minute to go. Ref pauses to re-insert Rakhmonov’s mouthpiece, starting them at range for some reason. Both swing hard before the next clinch. Elbow and swarm from Rakhmonov on the exit, chasing with knees and punches. Tight 1-2. but Neal comes back with a lengthy sequence of punches. 10-9 Rakhmonov.

Round 2: Back to trading at range. Neal lands into the clinch, Rakhmonov on the way out. Big knee by Rakhmonov and a body kick behind it. Head kick, clinch. One minute in. Rakhmonov looking for the takedown, can’t get it. Body kick and jab. They’re colliding quite a lot. Four-piece from Neal. Two minutes in. Heavy series of shots lands for Neal. Rakhmonov straight right, then a series of uppercuts and elbows inside. Neal comes back with an elbow. Clinch. Two minutes to go.

Both men throwing volume. Body kicks from Rakhmonov, who eats some clubbing shots inside and laughs them off. Another lengthy clinch. One minute to go. Rakhmonov tries a knee, fires a four-piece. Neal goes low-high, looks for more counters. Rakhmonov lead rights, Neal counters. Solid knees from Rakhmonov inside. 10-9 Neal? Better punches this round.

Round 3: Hard head kicks from Rakhmonov to start. Glancing wheel kick. Neal comes back with a heavy series of punches that seems to wobble Rakhmonov. Rakhmonov takes him to the fence, eats punches on the exit. More counters a minute in. Stiff 1-1-2 lands for Rakhmonov. He hauls Neal to the fence. Short uppercut from Neal two minutes in. Knees from Rakhmonov, including a good one on the exit. Trading hands in the center. Huge 1-2 from Rakhmonov and Neal’s hurt. They’re trading heat with two minutes to go.

Rakhmonov backs him to the fence and slams home elbows. Neal’s nose is busted, but he still manages to deny a takedown. Rear body lock for Rakhmonov. Looking for the no-hooks RNC and the palm-to-palm grip is enough to force a tap.

Final result: Rakhmonov def. Neal by submission (Rear naked choke)


155 lbs.: Jalin Turner vs. Mateusz Gamrot

Round 1: Both men open with kicks. Lead right from Gamrot. Again, low kick behind it. Turner looks for a counter three-piece the next time Gamrot enters. One minute in. Fake level change by Gamrot, good low kick. Nice right hand into a double-leg for Gamrot, who keeps his hands locked as Turner tries to scoot to the fence. Two minutes in. Turner works his way to his feet, Gamrot still attached. Two minutes to go.

Turner spins him and lands a heavy combo on the exit. Hard counter right from Turner prompts a shot, leading to an awkward spot that Gamrot escapes to land in half guard with a minute to go. Solid right hands on the way up. Turner separates with 20 to go. Spinning back kick falls short. 10-9 Gamrot.

Round 2: Gamrot sneaks in a right to the body. Turner tries a head kick. Gamrot low kick and lead left, weathers the counters. One minute in. Another low kick from Gamrot answered in kind. Lead right hook. Turner having trouble finding Gamrot’s head, eats a straight right. Another Gamrot low kick. Both just miss, Gamrot with an overhand left and Turner with a counter two-piece. Two minutes in. Solid counter from Turner prompts a shot, but Gamrot comes back with a hard right hand after failing. Another right from Turner buzzes Gamrot, who ducks a right hand and shoots unsuccessfully. Turner pushing forward with hard shots. Good left from Gamrot with two minutes to go.

Gamrot lead right. He times Turner’s low kick to take him down into half guard. Short right hands after briefly pinning an arm. One minute to go. Turner trying to get some space off of his back, Gamrot answering with a series of arm punches after pinning the arm with his shin again. Man, these are going to be interesting scores. 10-9 Gamrot.

Round 3: Turner stalking, Gamrot circling. Nice counter knee by Turner, but Gamrot blasts through for another takedown. Turner scoots to the fence. One minute in. Lateral drop from Gamrot nearly ends with Turner on top, though “Gamer” scrambles through and puts him on the fence again two minutes in. Double underhooks for Gamrot. Ref splits them up for lack of action with just over two minutes to go.

Turner tries a head kick, lands a hard straight left. Counter knee and sprawl to stop the next level change from Gamrot. Intercepting knee again. Gamrot gets in deep on a single-leg, absorbs a knee, puts him on the fence with a minute to go. Solid hips from Turner. Jockeying for position and Gamrot briefly gets mount. 10-9 Gamrot, but the first two rounds especially could go either way.

Final result: Gamrot def. Turner by split decision


185 lbs.: Bo Nickal vs. Jamie Pickett

Round 1: Nickal slips throwing a head kick, shoots, and puts Pickett on the fence. A knee appears to catch Pickett low, but the ref lets it continue, allowing Nickal to drag him down and attack from the front headlock. He quickly transitions to the back a minute in, then to the arm triangle. It looks super deep, but Nickal hasn’t passed the half guard and Pickett is gritting it out. Two minutes in. Nickal adjusting his grip. Finally he moves to mount and forces the tap.

Final result: Nickal def. Pickett by submission (arm triangle choke)
