UFC Long Island live stream ABC results: Buckle up for the “Ortega vs. Rodriguez” mixed martial arts (MMA) event scheduled for TODAY (Sat., July 16, 2022) inside UBS Arena at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Headlining the ESPN/ABC/ESPN+ fight card is the 145-pound showdown pitting two-time title challenger and No. 2-ranked contender Brian Ortega against No. 3-ranked striking sensation Yair Rodriguez. UFC Long Island will be co-headlined by longtime strawweight veteran Michelle Waterson, who looks to outlast rough-and-tumble Brazilian bruiser Amanda Lemos. In addition, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate makes her flyweight debut opposite former 125-pound title challenger Lauren Murphy on the UFC Long Island main card. 145 lbs.: Brian Ortega vs. Yair Rodriguez

Round 1: Ortega pushing forward, walks into some right hands. Counter left and stiff jab by Rodriguez. 2-1 from Rodriguez, who eats a right cross in return a minute in. Knee and low kick by Rodriguez. Ortega shoots, gets the body lock, and hauls him to the fence. Knees from Ortega. Two minutes in. Still grinding against the fence. Two minutes to go.

Rodriguez settles for some little heel kicks to the calf before separating. Heavy 1-2. Front kick to jab. Ortega shoots under a punch and puts him on the fence again, completing the takedown this time. Rodriguez tries to roll for an armbar, and as Ortega tries to pull his arm free, his shoulder separates. Oof.

Final result: Rodriguez def. Ortega by TKO (shoulder injury)


115 lbs.: Amanda Lemos vs. Michelle Waterson-Gomez

Round 1: Tentative start. Waterson-Gomez falling way short with her probing shots. One minute in. They trade low kicks. Lemos jab, Waterson-Gomez cross. Both still firing low kicks two minutes. Lemos triples up the right hand. Just misses with a counter right. Counter 1-2 connects. Two minutes to go.

Waterson-Gomez whiffs on an axe kick. Side kick attempt. Lemos leg kick. Waterson-Gomez hits a double-leg with a minute to go. Lemos trying to elevate, gives up half guard. Waterson-Gomez lands a good right hand but gets swept at the bell. 10-9 Lemos?

Round 2: Overhand right and body kick land for Lemos. Waterson-Gomez tossing out kicks, avoids an overhand. Lemos counter right a minute in. Waterson-Gomez lands side kicks, eats a right to the head and body. Waterson-Gomez ducks a right hand and shoots, only to get caught in a deep arm-in guillotine. The ref misses the tap, but when Lemos lets go and celebrates, Waterson-Gomez admits it.

Final result: Lemos def. Waterson-Gomez by submission (guillotine choke)


170 lbs.: Li Jingliang vs. Muslim Salikhov

Round 1: Inside low kick from Li to start. Salikhov fires a wheel kick in return. Long 2-3 lands for Li. One minute in. Counter left, avoids a spinning back kick. Solid low kick. Salikhov times the next one for a takedown into guard two minutes. Solid ground-and-pound. Li kicks him off with two minutes to go.

Spinning back kick lands to the body for Salikhov. Li changes levels, settles for an elbow. Brief exchange inside, Salikhov whiffs on a spinning back fist. One minute to go. Wheel kick attempt. Body shot from Li inside. Falling short with his bigger punches. Low kick by Salikhov. Li tries a takedown at the bell. 10-9 Salikhov.

Round 2: Salikhov counters a low kick with a good right hand, doesn’t follow Li down. Li lands a low kick, just barely avoids a wheel kick. Tight hook lands for him. Long combo falls short a minute in. Brief clinch. Li low kick. Salikhov lands a lead left hook two minutes in. Check hook by Li, who ducks a spinning back fist and takes him down. Salikhov works his way up before long. Hard lead hook by Salikhov, then a 1-2 after they trade body shots. Two minutes to go.

Salikhov looks for another wheel kick. Another check hook by Li. He avoids a spinning back kick. One minute to go. 2-3 by Salikhov, but Li comes back with a huge straight right that has Salikhov wobbling across the cage. Li looking for the kill, sprawls on a shot and lands an elbow on the break. Another huge right cross and down goes Salikhov. Li drops elbows until the ref steps in.

Final result: Li def. Salikhov by TKO (punches and elbows)


125 lbs.: Matt Schnell vs. Sumudaerji

Round 1: Trading low kicks early. Schnell pushing forward, counters with a jab. Straight left from Sumudaerji a minute in. More low kicks, tries to the head and body. Schnell ducks a straight left for a double-leg, then moves to mount. Full back mount. Two minutes in. Sumudaerji turns into top guard. Schnell looking to set up a triangle. Sumudaerji lands some body shots, then stands over him with two minutes to go.

Solid right from Sumudaerji on the way down. Schnell goes from a triangle to an omoplata, then survives a slam to sweep into guard and land elbows. One minute to go. Right hands by Schnell, elbows as well. Sumudaerji fires elbows off his back as he eats shots. 10-9 Schnell.

Round 2: Schnell eats an early low blow. They get right to trading when they resume and Sumudaerji hurts him with a straight left. Body kick, right hook, then a brutal right hand on the break that hurts Schnell again. Low kick from Schnell, eats a right hand as Sumudaerji stands a minute in. Two clean straight lefts frop Schnell, who tries to attack a single-leg and manages to stand. Schnell trying to attack with shirt uppercuts. Sumudaerji sneaks in an elbow, then another. Schnell somehow staying up but another frame to elbow hurts him yet again. Two minutes in. Two straight rights land for Schnell, who gets plugged with a pair of straight lefts before coming back with a two-piece. Heavy straight right and now Sumudaerji’s hurt. Schnell follows up with a takedown and moves directly to mount, dropping brutal elbows with two minutes to go.

The elbows piling up but somehow Sumudaerji sweeps into guard, only to get caught in a triangle. Schnell piling up elbows. One minute to go. He tightens up the triangle and puts “The Tibetan Eagle’s” lights out to complete one of the wildest comebacks you’ll ever see.

Final result: Schnell def. Sumudaerji by technical submission (triangle choke)


145 lbs.: Shane Burgos vs. Charles Jourdain

Round 1: Burgos advancing as always. Jourdain tries some head kicks, lands a 1-2 and low kicks. Burgos catches a kick, can’t use it. Another straight left by Jourdain and Burgos shoots a minute in. Outside trip puts him on top in half guard, avoiding a guillotine in the process. He gets a hook in, kicks off the fence, then wraps up the body triangle. Looking for the RNC. Gnarly neck crank that Jourdain manages to weather. Two minutes in. Jourdain stands, punches Burgos’ mouthpiece out, and lets him up. Burgos continuing to pressure as Jourdain tosses out kicks. Trading knees inside, slick foot sweep by Jourdain and a brutal combo on the fence that draws a smile. Two minutes to go.

Hard knees in the clinch from Jourdain. Elbow just whiffs on the break. Jourdain tries a head kick. Solid clinch strikes. One minute to go. More good clinch strikes. Burgos low kick, Jourdain 2-3. Infighting from both. Jourdain just misses on a flying knee. 10-9 Jourdain.

Round 2: Jourdain landing well as he circles. Combination inside, teep downstairs. Burgos grabs a rear waist lock as Jourdain jumps in a minute in. Nice takedown and another standing back take. Jourdain’s nearly shaken him off two minutes in. Burgos keeps his balance and hunts for the choke as Jourdain tries to scramble free. Short punches. Two minutes to go.

Near-miss on the RNC. Now looking to crush the jaw with a minute to go. Solid defense by Jourdain. Burgos waves the crowd up, then swats Jourdain’s head until the bell. 10-9 Burgos.

Round 3: Potshotting each other inside. Stiff lefts from Jourdain. Low kicks from Burgos as Jourdain pumps the jab. More Jourdain combos met by low kicks. One minute in. Solid boxing from Jourdain, who denies a takedown and blasts Burgos with short right hands. Burgos looking for another takedown, eats knees to the body and head. Lengthy combo on the break from Jourdain, tearing into him against the fence. Two minutes to go.

Burgos sneaks in an elbow as Jourdain continues to blast away. Flying knee and uppercut from Jourdain. Damage piling up at an alarming rate. Just chasing Burgos around the cage with punches. Burgos manages to tie up with a minute to go. Rear waist lock. Jourdain appeals to the crowd, eats a right hand, then kicks Burgos flush in the face. You know what? 10-8 Jourdain.

Final result: Burgos def. Jourdain by majority decision


125 lbs.: Lauren Murphy vs. Miesha Tate

Round 1: Decent clinch shots from Murphy. Combination on the fence, denies a takedown, lands a solid knee on the way up. Counter right. 1-2. Cross counter, jab. One minute in. Sharp 1-2 by Tate. Clean jab, eats a cross counter on the next one. Inside low kick, eats a jab two minutes in. Murphy gets in deep on a double-leg, can’t hold her down, settles for a rear body lock against the fence. Tate reverses with two minutes to go.

Solid throw attempt, can’t keep Murphy down. Knees from Tate. Murphy gets double unders and they jockey for position. One minute to go. Tate fires a takedown on the break, settles for putting her on the fence again. Knees downstairs. Jab lands for Murphy after they separate. 10-9 Murphy.

Round 2: Sharp right cross from Tate early on. Tate’s nose is wearing some damage. One minute in. Clean double-leg by Murphy. Tate looking to scoot to the fence, does so, eats right hands on the way up. Hard elbow from Murphy on the exit. Two minutes in. Tate on the advance, lands a 1-2-3. Sharp jabs by Murphy in return. Tate shoots and they trade knees inside. Murphy lands an elbow on the break, eats one from Tate in return. Two minutes to go.

Both look for boxing combos. Nice defense by Tate to avoid a well-timed double-leg. Right hand from Murphy on the exit, then an uppercut as Tate hauls her to the fence. One minute to go. Nasty elbow by Tate. She’s got a massive lump under her left eye. Trading knees inside. Tate looks to change levels, rebuffed. 10-9 Murphy.

Round 3: Tate advancing, lands a leg kick. Trading jabs. Well-timed double-leg from Tate, but Murphy denies it with a whizzer kick and cracks her with an elbow on the break a minute in. Tate fires a volley of body shots. 1-2 from Murphy, jab behind it. Good cross by Tate. Two minutes in. She shoots, denied, shoots again, eats elbows. Clinch knees from Murphy, another hard elbow and another on the break. Tate unable to tie up again. Cross from Tate with two minutes to go.

Solid combination by Tate as they exchange in the center. Murphy changes levels in response, but can’t get the takedown even with locked hands. Trading knees in the clinch. One minute to go. Jabs landing for Murphy. Counter 1-2, knees at the bell. 10-9 Murphy.

Final result: Murphy def. Tate by unanimous decision


185 lbs.: Dalcha Lungiambula vs. Puna Soriano

Round 1: Soriano tries a head kick. Lead right from Lungiambula, who denies a double-leg against the fence. One minute in. Soriano lands a couple front kicks to the body and eats a counter right in return. Both land nasty lefts in an exchange. Heavy leg kick knocks Soriano over, prompting an attempted shot. Two minutes in. Soriano gets his head free and they trade hard knees to the body before separating. Lungiambula tries a head kick. Nice counter uppercut met by a knee from Soriano. Two minutes to go.

1-2 from Soriano. Gnarly low kick by Lungiambula. Big straight left by Soriano in return. Another left on the break. Lungiambula avoids a big swing and takes him down. One minute to go. Soriano trying to stand against the fence, does so. Nice suplex by Lungiambula. 10-9 Lungiambula.

Round 2: Lungiambula fires a naked kick and Soriano makes him pay with a murderous straight left. Lungiambula hits the deck and gets swarmed for the out-of-nowhere finish.

Final result: Soriano def. Lungiambula by KO (punches)


135 lbs.: Jack Shore vs. Ricky Simon

Round 1: Simon leaning on low kicks, lands a sharp 1-2. Lovely double-leg as they exchange. Shore pops up, stuck against the fence, eats a should strike a minute in. They separate. Simon shoots under a right hand, denied. Simon low kick. Looking a step ahead of Shore two minutes in. Shore body kick. He shoots, denied. Right hand to body shot by Simon, who follows with a double-leg attempt. Grinding him against the fence with two minutes to go.

Elbow on the break. 1-2 from Shore. Simon ducks the next one and puts him on the fence. One minute to go. Shore lands a low blow. They separate. Long jab connects. Good left hook on the fence. Body kick, another stiff jab that snaps Simon’s head back. 10-9 Simon.

Round 2: Shore shoots, denied, gets put on the fence. Nice elbow by Simon on the break, shucks off a clinch and lands a body shot. Jab lands a minute in. Low kick. Shore fires a combo and shoots, denied. Simon looking for the back in return. Shore pops up and faces, eating knees to the thigh. Simon with an elbow into a double-leg, high-amplitude slam two minutes in. Shore works his way up. Elbow on the break. Jab with two minutes to go.

Shore tries to step in with a 1-2 and Simon scrambles him with a right cross. Shore’s legs go out and Simon jumps on him, quickly wrapping up an arm triangle for the finish.

Final result: Simon def. Shore by submission (arm triangle choke)


145 lbs.: Bill Algeo vs. Herbert Burns

Round 1: Burns advances, shoots in the first 10 seconds. Jockeying for position on the fence. Trading knees downstairs. Lateral drop from Burns puts him on top in side control. Mount, then the back, right into the triangle. Landing hard elbows. Algeo manages to weather it and get out two minutes in. Burns tries an omoplata, gets stuck on the bottom in half guard. Short punches from Algeo, then bigger ones as Burns regains guard. Nasty rights with two minutes to go.

Burns still tossing his legs up but eating hard punches. He tries to stand, gets forced back down with strikes. One minute to go. Algeo stands and waves Burns up. Burns takes his sweet time getting up, flubs a takedown. Crucifix to half guard for Algeo. 10-8 Algeo.

Round 2: Burns looks like he’s totally mentally broken. He manages to catch a kick and move to a rear waist lock, but ends up on the bottom. Back to guard. Burns turns for a leg, loses it. Illegal axe kick by Algeo. He backs off and Burns just straight-up refuses to stand for the TKO.

Final result: Algeo def. Burns by TKO (retirement)


205 lbs.: Dustin Jacoby vs. Da Un Jung

Round 1: Low kicks from Jacoby to start. Jung landing some of his own. One minute in. Both targeting the legs early. Trading jabs. Two minutes in. Jung tries a flying knee. 1-2, leg kick. Jacoby lands a shifting jab, eats a 1-2. Two minutes to go.

Jung fires a good right cross, but Jacoby comes back with a razor-sharp 1-1-2 that turns Jung’s lights out. Jung wakes up after impact, but the ref’s already stepped in as Jacoby celebrates a walk-off knockout.

Final result: Jacoby def. Jung by KO (punch)


185 lbs.: Dwight Grant vs. Dustin Stoltzfus

Round 1: Low kick from Stoltzfus kicks off an exchange. Grant tries a head kick. Long right hand. Good exchange, another right lands for Grant a minute in. Combination from Stoltzfus near the fence. Lands a low kick, eats a body shot. Stoltzfus backs him to the fence and shoots two minutes in. Knee to the body. Right hand on the exit. High and low kicks from Stoltzfus met by a counter right. Two minutes to go.

They trade leg kicks. Another one from Stoltzfus. Quick exchange inside. Another low kick from Stoltzfus. One minute to go. Grant counters a spin. Stoltzfus leg kick. Grant loading up on those counters. Stoltzfus backs him up and swings big at the bell. 10-9 Grant.

Round 2: Stoltzfus opens with a leg kick, lands a right hand as they trade. Grant tries a head kick, lands a counter right. Stoltzfus body kick, Grant low kick. One minute in. Body kick from Grant. Front kick, avoids the counter. Two minutes in. Stoltzfus sleepwalking through this round so far. Two minutes to go.

Counter right from Stoltzfus. He shoots against the fence. This one he completes with a minute to go. Solid left hands, takes the back. Hunting for the RNC, ends the round punching inside. Nice slams from mount.

Round 3: Body kick and low kicks from Stoltzfus. Solid counter right by Grant. One minute in. Low kick and left hook by Grant. Both land right hands inside. Stoltzfus low kick, Grant counter right and left hook. Two minutes. Solid overhand right by Stoltzfus. He shoots, denied. Grant counter right. Stoltzfus tries to spin, hauls Grant to the fence, carries him to the center, and slams him down with two minutes to go.

Short punches by Stoltzfus. One minute to go. Continuing to chip away. Looking for mount, got it, nice elbows. 10-9 Stoltzfus.

115 lbs.: Jessica Penne vs. Emily Ducote

Round 1: Penne looking to work behind her jab. Nice counter hook by Ducote a minute in. Both women standing just out of range. Penne tries a long-range shot, bails when it isn’t there. Two minutes in. Sharp counter right from Ducote, who denies a level change. Body shots met by Thai knees and an elbow from Penne. Penne cross, Ducote left hook and low kick. Two minutes to go.

More low kicks from Ducote. Quick exchange in the center. They trade right crosses, Ducote’s to the body. One minute to go. Low-high 2-3. Penne shoots, rebuffed. Ducote to the body. Low-high 3-2. Nice counters in center cage. 10-9 Ducote.

Round 2: Penne follows a head kick attempt with a left hand. Hard 2-3 by Ducote, who stuffs a shot. Penne’s calf is not in great shape. Left hook lands for her a minute in. 2-3 by Ducote again, slipping Penne’s return fire. Some potshotting on both sides. Cross counter by Ducote. Penne shoots under a right hand, lands some knees before separating two minutes in. She shoots again, denied again. Counter 1-2 to answer a leg kick. Two minutes to go.

Ducote still targeting the lead calf, eats a combo after landing counters. Penne body kick, shoots, denied. Ducote combo with a minute to go. Penne tossing out body kicks, eats a heavy right hand and tries to come back with a combo. Knees from the clinch. Ducote tries a 1-2-1-2 and eats a 1-2 in return. 10-9 Ducote.

Round 3: More low kicks and Penne’s lead calf is starting to give out. She shoots, denied. Another calf kick and Penne can’t put weight on it anymore. Ducote stalking, stings her with a counter right. One minute in. They trade right crosses. 1-2 from Ducote, staying patient. Body shot. Two minutes in. There’s a solid cross by Penne as Ducote tries to punish the lead leg. Hard lead right by Penne. Two minutes to go.

Ducote still looking for the calf, Penne finding the mark with some single shots. Calf kick and left hook by Ducote. One minute to go. Quick exchange. Penne body kick, eats a lead right in return. Counter right from Ducote and a sharp counter hook. One last calf kick for the road. 10-9 Ducote.
