Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently put the finishing touches on its upcoming UFC on FOX 28: “Emmett vs. Stephens” mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza, which takes place tonight (Sat., Feb. 24, 2018) inside Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
UFC on FOX 28 will be headlined by the featherweight fracas pitting Josh Emmett against Jeremy Stephens in a five-round scrap that could have serious implications in the 145-pound title chase.
Elsewhere on the “Sunshine State” fight card, strawweight contenders Tecia Torres and Jessica Andrade collide in the 115-pound co-main event, while Ilir Latifi and Ovince Saint Preux hook ‘em up for light heavyweight bragging rights.

Latifi drops Saint Preux with an overhand left and tears into him with follow-up shots. Saint Preux stands, gets dropped again, and goes to sleep in a spine-crushing standing guillotine.

Round 1: Low kick from McMann, counter right by Reneau. Both falling short with their punches so far. Hard right hand by McMann and she rips her down, taking side control. One minute in. She looks for the crucifix, not there. She gets it briefly and drops right hands. Again two minutes in. Once again. Reneau bridging to get out, but McMann just keeps re-trapping the arm and thumping away. McMann threatens a keylock with two minutes to go.
McMann still chipping away. Reneau looking to frame, eats a right hand. She gets to her knees and McMann looks for the back. North-south with a minute to go. Back to side control. One minute to go. McMann goes back to the crucifix and thumps away before the bell. 10-9 McMann.
Round 2: Reneau sending out her jab. McMann not reaching her with her punches. Fake shot. One minute in. Right hand drops McMann and they trade hard shots. Reneau stuffs a shot, lands a knee on the way up. Another shot. Reneau dropping Browne elbows, gets back to her feet. McMann fakes a shot and lands knees as Reneau takes her to the fence two minutes in. McMann shoots again, takes her down but lands in a triangle. Reneau cinches it up and lands elbows. McMann just sitting there, not defending. Two minutes to go.

115 lbs.: Angela Hill vs. Maryna Moroz
Round 1: Counter right lands for Hill as Moroz throws from too far out. Another right hand, leg kick, right hand. Moroz right hand. One minute in. Leg kicks and rights from Hill. Moroz tries to change level. Moroz is throwing a lot but landing very little. More kicks from Moroz. Hill with a good leg kick. Moroz ties up after eating a leg kick and they trade knees. Good elbow by Hill on the break. Counter right by Hill after taking a body kick. Two minutes to go.
Hill pressuring, lands on the fence and looks for a takedown. They engage on the fence, more heavy blows from Hill. Moroz has yet to make a dent in Hill, but the inverse is not true. Straight left from Jouban a minute in, then a good combination. Low kick from Saunders. Straight right, then two hard ones on the fence that have Jouban shaking his head. Good left hands land for Jouban two minutes in. Saunders lands more good rights. Low kick apparently checked. Jouban lands a couple and a check hook, then a straight left and a knee that Saunders ducks into. They trade on the cage. Two minutes to go.
Saunders lands a right, but gets his leg chopped out from under him. Another inside low kick, combination. Saunders grazes him with a high kick, eats a straight left, then lands a knee-buckling low blow. Back to action with a minute to go. Wheel kick from Jouban blocked. Another hard low kick and an uppercut buckles Saunders. Jouban follows him down, then lets him up when the finish isn’t there. Another hard leg kick. Again. Saunders with a right hand. Round 1: Prachnio flicking out early kicks. He tries to spin and Alvey takes him down after catching the leg. Prachnio scrambles up and hauls him to the fence, caught in the front headlock. One minute in. Knees to the thigh from Prachnio. Alvey still holding on. Two minutes in. More knees from Prachnio. He pulls his head free and separates. Two minutes to go.
Low kick from Alvey as he eats a body shot. Prachnio lands a knee downstairs. Hard exchange on the fence. Heavy low kicks land for Alvey. One minute to go. Prachnio digs another body shot, but walks into a right hook that drops him. Alvey tries a front choke on the way up, then slumps him with another savage hook.

135 lbs.: Russel Doane vs. Rani Yahya
Round 1: Yahya hits an immediate single-leg. Half guard for Yahya. Short ground-and-pound. One minute in. Doane tries to turn into him, caught in a crucifix neck crank. Yahya putting the squeeze on him from half guard. Two minutes in. Still looking to pass, makes it to side control. Knees to the body. Two minutes to go.
Yahya squeezing hard from side control, sneaking in knees. He abandons the grip and continues the knees, but catches Doane in the spine as he turns away. The ref restarts them on the feet. One minute to go. Doane on the advance. Yahya just circles until the bell. 10-9 Yahya.
Round 2: Yahya shoots, completes a single-leg. Doane holding onto a guillotine, no dice. Yahya moves to the front headlock, transitions beautifully to the back. One minute in. Full boy triangle for Yahya. Yahya softening him up with punches. Two minutes in. more punches from Yahya as Doane plays defense. Two minutes to go.
Doane rolls to his knees, stands with Yahya still attached. One minute to go. He tries to wiggle a bit, talking to his corner. He tries a slam before the bell. 10-8 Yahya.
Round 3: Doane pressuring, fires a front kick. Yahya circles away, catches a body kick for a takedown. Doane scrambles up, winds up on top in half guard a minute in. Yahya hits a lovely sweep. Doane trying to scoot to the fence as Yahya sets up an arm triangle. Two minutes to go. Yahya working to get his leg free, does so. The tap comes a few seconds later.

125 lbs.: Alex Perez vs. Eric Shelton
Round 1: Counter right hand from Shelton early. Low kicks from Perez met by right hands. Another right by Shelton. Again. Perez continues to press forward. One minute in. Good right by Perez met by a 1-2. Shelton shoots and Perez looks to set up a front choke, then takes top guard. Two minutes in. Perez looking for elbows. Shelton rolls to his feet, eats a leg kick. Two minutes to go.
Perez lands a right hand, Shelton comes back with a knee off a caught kick. They trade rights. Perez catches him with a right hand in combination. One minute to go. More pressure. Perez shoots in, eats a knee, separates with a head kick attempt. Low kick from Shelton. Perez completes a single-leg. 10-9 Perez.
Round 2: Perez still advancing. Heavy right hand lands for him. Shelton lands a good counter, denies a takedown, eats a body kick. 1-2 from Perez. One minute in. Perez still pressuring, lands a right hand and denies another takedown. Two minutes in. Shelton trying to use the cage to stand. Perez using good pressure. Two minutes to go.

Round 3: Low kick from Perez. Perez ducks a right hand and shoots, sprawled on. Counter right lands for Shelton. Perez leg kick. Another nice counter right from Shelton a minute in. Exchange in the center. Perez with a leg kick and single-leg. Perez denies a switch attempt, stays on him with he goes to his knees. Two minutes in. Knee lands for him when Shelton tries to stand. Shelton manages to scramble up and pursue with strikes. Two minutes to go.
Shelton counters a leg kick with punches. Good right hand. Perez shoots, tries a knee. They exchange 1-2s, neither landing clean. Perez hits another takedown near the fence and settles in guard. One minute to go. Perez moves to the rear waist lock, lands a knee on the way up. 10-9 Perez, but closer than the other two.

135 lbs.: Manny Bermudez vs. Albert Morales
Round 1: They trade jabs early. Low kick from Morales. Right hand buckles Bermudez, who hits a takedown in response and moves right to mount. Morales sweeps into guard and immediately has to deal with a triangle. One minute in. The foot isn’t under his knee yet. Now it is. Morales gives a thumbs-up and postures free. Looking for half guard. Bermudez maintaining guard well two minutes in. Bermudez looks for an omoplata. Morales rolls out, only to land on the bottom. A scramble ensues with two minutes to go.
Bermudez in guard, Morales using butterfly hooks. Now half guard, almost side control, back to full. Morales throwing elbows from his back. One minute to go. Bermudez lands a right hand as Morales kicks him away, stands, and takes him down into half guard. Morales with some good hammerfists, but lands in a guillotine. Bermudez ends the round on top. 10-9 Bermudez.
Round 2: Morales lands another hard right hand early. He looks a lot sharper than Bermudez on the feet. Bermudez shoots, pulls guard. Morales waves him up. More smooth boxing from Morales. Another failed shot to guard pull. One minute in. Bermudez gets in deeper for this guard pull and gets Morales down. Morales eventually gets his wrist free and stands. Two minutes in. Left hook lands for him. Better shot from Bermudez and he transitions from the clinch to a lethal Marcelotine, sweeping into mount to draw the tap.
