265 lbs.: Jailton Almeida vs. Derrick Lewis

Round 1: Head kick and left hand from Almeida, who changes levels and shows off a powerful drive to slam Lewis into side control. Right to mount seconds later. Almeida looks for the back, then transitions to an arm triangle. Lewis worms his arm free but he’s still mounted. Almeida postures up two minutes in, then takes the back. Lewis removes a hook and stands, but only manages a couple of hammerfists before a persistent Almeida takes him down and mounts him again. Two minutes to go.

Almeida looking for postured strikes. There’s the arm triangle again and this one’s deeper. Almeida moves to side control, patiently squeezing. One minute to go. Back to mount. Lewis wrenches his arm free once again. Almeida goes back to striking from the top. Short elbows. Lewis scrambles free in the final seconds and tries to unload as Almeida shoots back in. 10-8 Almeida.

Round 2: Lewis falls short with a jumping switch kick. He’s flashing that uppercut every time Almeida threatens to change levels. Almeida ducks a lunging right hand for another takedown and moves right to mount once again. One minute in. Almeida very patient from the top, not throwing much. Two minutes in. Lewis tries to explode and Almeida takes his back. Looking for a neck crank, nothing there. Two minutes to go.

Almeida somewhere between mount and the back with Lewis stuck on his side. Now back to proper back mount with a minute to go. Hunting the RNC. He drops some punches until the bell. 10-9 Almeida.

Round 3: Lewis looks for a flying knee, then stops the first takedown. Big uppercut just misses but he manages to stop the next one as well. He gets a little too greedy with a foot sweep and Almeida uses the opportunity to take him down and mount him again. One minute in. Ref wants more action from Almeida, which is really something considering that he is, to reiterate, in full mount. There’s an elbow from Almeida. Lewis content to chill on his back. Now he turns to his knees and Almeida falls off the top. Lewis takes top position and lands some heavy punches, avoiding an attempted deep half guard sweep two minutes in. Almeida still trying to scramble despite Lewis’ whizzer, manages to get on top and take mount yet again. He considers the arm triangle, nothing there. Two minutes to go.

Postured elbow from Almeida. Solid hammerfists. He postures again and drops punches, then takes the back with a minute to go. Lewis falls to his back and Almeida settles for side control. He goes to work with solid punches for the last 15 seconds. 10-9 Almeida.

Round 4: Solid low kick from Almeida. Another double-leg and again he goes to mount. One minute in. Back to side control. Half guard, dropping punches two minutes in. Not terribly engrossing stuff. Lewis nearly spins free but Almeida takes his back. Two minutes to go.

Back to half guard goes Almeida. One minute to go. Almeida moves to side control and turns up the punches as Lewis tries to stand. 10-9 Almeida.

Round 5: Lewis wings the uppercut and Almeida dodges to shoot in again. Surprising defense from Lewis, who drops some punches and hammerfists before taking Almeida to the fence. Almeida changes levels again a minute in and now he’s back on top. Right back to mount. Two minutes in. Almeida and Lewis both just chilling. Ref demands action with two minutes to go.

Almeida moves to side control. Back to mount. Lewis finally explodes to his feet with a minute to go and immediately gets taken back down. Lewis turns to his knees and stands, only for Almeida to trip him down one last time. What a profoundly dumb fight. 10-9 Almeida.

Final result: Almeida def. Lewis by unanimous decision


170 lbs.: Gabriel Bonfim vs. Nicolas Dalby

Round 1: They meet in the center and get right to slugging it out. Low kick to 1-2 from Bonfim. Dalby steps in and gets the body lock before hauling him to the fence. They jockey for position a minute in, then separate. Dalby pursuing and throwing volume. Hard low kick from Bonfim, who shrugs off a clinch. Dalby keeping his foot on the gas. Head kick attempt. Low kick to 1-2 from Bonfim. Body kick to jab two minutes in. Bonfim turning it up behind the jab, Dalby trying to force him back with pressure. Low kick from Dalby. Bonfim grabs a body lock as Dalby steps in and trips him into half guard. Side control with two minutes to go.

Elbows from Bonfim. One minute to go. Full mount for Bonfim. Back to side control, heavy elbows. He postures up for some hammerfists as well. 10-9 Bonfim.

Round 2: Dalby in pursuit once again. Nice low kick. They knuckle down to slug it out near the fence, but Bonfim uses the opportunity to change levels and take him down. Dalby works his way up, gets dragged back down closer to center cage. Dalby’s arm is over Bonfim’s head and Bonfim tries to clamp down on the Von Flue, but loses it a minute in. Side control for Bonfim. Dalby turns to his knees and Bonfim looks to cinch up a d’arce before spinning to the back. Nice scramble from Dalby gets him back to his feet two minutes in. They separate. More pressure from Dalby. They trade elbows as Dalby puts him on the fence. More elbows from Dalby. Bonfim tries a reactive shots, dneied with two minutes to go.

More elbows from Dalby and they trade huge punches. Dalby pouring it on against the fence. Big knees from Dalby. Bonfim trying to throw back but getting eaten up. One minute to go. Bonfim changes levels, denied. Bonfim looks like he’s breaking but comes back with uppercuts. More knees from Dalby and down goes Bonfim. Dalby pours it on for the comeback stoppage.

Final result: Dalby def. Bonfim by TKO (knees and punches)


265 lbs.: Don’Tale Mayes vs. Rodrigo Nascimento

Round 1: Early aggression from Nascimento, landing solid punches. Mayes trying to keep him at bay with kicks. Big swings, no connections. Nascimento barrels in with punches a minute in, good knee on the exit. Solid uppercut to left hook. Pressure’s working for him so far. Trading punches near the fence. Nascimento continuing to land punches. Big combination near the ropes, Mayes weathers it and forces Nascimento to back off two minutes in. Counter elbow from Mayes, combo from Nascimento into the clinch. Knee on the exit from Nascimento. Double jab. Big left shovel hook in combination stings Mayes, who puts Nascimento on the fence. They separate with two minutes to go.

Straight right from Nascimento, hard elbow behind it. He changes levels for a takedown, but Mayes quickly stands, landing hammerfists. Solid knees from Mayes. They separate with a minute to go. Nascimento continuing to push forward. Not a lot of action in the home stretch. 10-9 Nascimento.

Round 2: Nascimento back on the front foot. Nice head kick on the fence and they trade bombs. Mayes waves him on. Nascimento feints a jab and shoots in deep, strong defense by Mayes. One minute in. Nascimento controlling him against the fence. Nascimento makes a bit of space and they trade dirty boxing before tying back up two minutes in. They separate a while later. Nascimento tries a head kick, avoids one in return. Two minutes to go.

Mayes falling short with most of what he throws. He’s looking like the more gassed of the two. Counter 1-2 from Nascimento. He punches into the clinch. Punches from Mayes on the exit. One minute to go. They trade elbows and knees inside. 10-9 Nascimento.

Round 3: After such a solid first round, this really has turned into a disappointment. Nascimento still pressuring, still the busier and more technical of the two. Nice clinch knee. One minute in. Jab exchange. Mayes avoids a four-piece combo. Two minutes in. Low kick from Nascimento. Nascimento ties up, Mayes reverses. Two minutes to go.

Mayes shoots, denied. They trade arm punches in the clinch. Nice counters from Mayes as Nascimento barrels forward. Nascimento low kick with a minute to go. Nascimento wades in and they trade some solid shots before Mayes puts him on the fence. Hard overhand left from Mayes, who tries a spinning elbow at the bell. 10-9 Mayes.

Final result: Nascimento def. Mayes by unanimous decision


185 lbs.: Caio Borralho vs. Abus Magomedov

Round 1: Both men looking to kick in the early going. Borralho tries a long two-piece a minute in. Lots of movement but nobody committing to any strikes. Low kick from Borralho two minutes in. He’s circling as always, avoids a 1-2 from Magomedov. Neither man landing much. Two minutes to go.

Stiff jab lands for Borralho. Magomedov sprawls hard on a shot and nearly lands a head kick on the way up. Quick counters from Magomedov. One minute to go. Borralho hops in with a 1-2 and takes a finger right to the eye. He takes a bit to recover, but manages to do so. Magomedov whiffs on a head kick. 10-9 Magomedov? Kind of a nothing round.

Round 2: Early combo from Magomedov. Borralho tries a flurry a minute in, followed by a body kick. Magomedov low kick. Hard check hook from Borralho, then another right hand behind it. Magomedov pops him with a right hand in return, eats a 1-2. Borralho complaining about outstretched fingers two minutes in. Nice jabs. 1-2. Two minutes to go.

Magomedov misses on a lead right. Both fire kicks. Jabs from Borralho, both fire body shots with a minute to go. Magomedov lands a right downstairs, eats a jab, and tries a spinning back fist. Jump knee and right hand from Borralho. 10-9 Borralho.

Round 3: More jabs from Borralho, who’s seemingly taken over the fight with that strike. He feints a level change, lands a body kick and jab. Magomedov looking to answer with right hands of his own. One minute in. Straight left by Borralho. He’s boxing Magomedov up at this point. Two minutes in. Sneaky lead elbow has Magomedov staggering back and Borralho goes on the attack, landing a stiff jab and trying a spinning elbow. Flying knee from Borralho, then a gnarly point-blank body shot that sends Magomedov to the mat. Borralho settles on top in half guard. Looking for the back with two minutes to go.

Full back control for Borralho, trying to soften Magomedov up. Body triangle with a minute to go. He rides out the round from there. 10-9 Borralho.

Final result: Borralho def. Magomedov by unanimous decision


165 lbs.: Elves Brener vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky

Round 1: Low kick lands for Brener. Body kick soon after. Kruschewsky pursuing, looking to establish the jab. One minute in. Brener body kick met by a Kruschewsky jab. Flurry from Kruschewsky kicks off a big exchange, capped by a heavy Brener left hook. Two minutes in. 1-2-3 from Brener rattles Kruschewsky and he follows with a hard leg kick. Straight right from Brener after feinting a knee. Kruschewsky really struggling to cut off the cage or land consistently. Two minutes to go.

Low kick from Brener as he continues to circle. He slips a combo. Good exchange in the center, Brener just misses with a flying knee. Brener lunges forward with a lead right, then a looping left hook that catches a retreating Kruschewsky right on the ear and sends him face-first to the mat.

Final result: Brener def. Kurschewsky by KO (punch)


170 lbs.: Rinat Fakhretdinov vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Round 1: Fakhretdinov comes out throwing heat, walking through a low kick to floor dos Santos with a left hook against the fence. He follows him down into guard and drops heavy elbows until dos Santos manages to tie him up with overhooks. One minute in. dos Santos makes it to his feet, Fakhretdinov still attached. Fakhretrinov forces him back down and briefly threatens an RNC. dos Santos trying to use the fence to stand, manages to do so and get to distance with two minutes to go.

Solid kicks from dos Santos. Fakhretdinov walks through them to land some big hooks. Both throwing heat with a minute to go. Head kick attempt from dos Santos, who tries to spin and blocks an overhand right. Counter right from the Brazilian, who tries a wheel kick. 10-9 Fakhretdinov.

Round 2: Fakhretdinov wings some big hooks and shoots, can’t get dos Santos down. More heavy swings, stiff jab from dos Santos in return. Fakhretdinov misses by a mile with some overhand rights, lands a left hook, gets buzzed by a jab. One minute in. Uppercut and left hook miss for him and he eats a body kick. Winging left hook glances off. dos Santos trips him up after eating a 1-2. Windmills from both. Lots of venom, not a lot of clean connections two minutes in. Body kick from Fakhretdinov, jab soon after. dos Santos picking his shots. Nice low kick. Fakhretdinov plodding after him, whiffs an uppercut but lands a jab. Two minutes to go.

Counter hook from Fakhretdinov, who eats a body shot. Standing hammerfist lands for him, then a powerful double-leg at the base of the fence. dos Santos makes it to his feet, Fakhretdinov keeping the body lock with a minute to go. dos Santos isolates an arm and separates. 10-9 Fakhretdinov.

Round 3: dos Santos stops a takedown, eats an overhand right, and tries a spinning back fist. He shoots in return, no dice. Fakhretdinov answers a low kick with a jab and shoots, but dos Santos is ready with underhooks and puts him on the fence. They separate a minute in. Big combo from dos Santos. Fakhretdinov walks through it, landing jabs and a short right hand before putting him on the fence. dos Santos limp-legs out and stings Fakhretdinov with a combo, then a jump knee. Fakhretdinov continuing to push forward but clearly losing steam. Two minutes in. Sharp punches from dos Santos. Body and low kicks, big uppercut. Fakhretdinov smiling and trying to throw back. Ugly shot denied, body kick from dos Santos in return. Two minutes to go.

dos Santos staying mobile, absorbs a heavy left hook when they exchange. Another nice body kick. Another and Fakhretdinov is badly hurt. Farkhretdinov fires a desperation shot and dos Santos jumps on him, unloading everything he’s got. he jumps on Fakhretdinov’s back and slips in both hooks. He’s hunting the RNC, Fakhretdinov not even fighting the hands. Fakhretrinov spins into top guard in the last 10 seconds and dos Santos gets space to stand. Great fight. 10-8 dos Santos.

Final result: Majority draw


205 lbs.: Modestas Bukauskas vs. Vitor Petrino

Round 1: Bukauskas tosses out some head kicks in the early going. Stiff jab lands for Petrino. One minute in. Low kick from Bukauskas, who continues to circle as Petrino patiently advances. Another good low kick and he blocks a pair of high kicks in return. Two minutes in. Surprisingly slow-paced fight so far. Both swing in the center, neither connect. Nice jab by Petrino. Bukauskas lands another low kick and gets taken down for it, then slammed into guard after scrambling up. Two minutes to go.

Petrino playing heavy on top. Bukauskas tries to make space, gives up half guard. One minute to go. Not a lot from Petrino on top. There’s some decent punches as time winds down. 10-9 Petrino.

Round 2: They pause right off the bat because Bukauskas’ corner forgot to put his mouthpiece in, which earns them a scolding. Bukauskas looking more aggressive in the early going, landing some clean punches. That aggression proves ill-advised, as Petrino finds the timing for a monster left hook that catches Bukauskas jumping in and blasts him into a heap. Bukauskas wakes up in a daze after hitting the mat, but the ref correctly steps in for the highlight-reel finish.

Final result: Petrino def. Bukauskas by KO (punch)


115 lbs.: Denise Gomes vs. Angela Hill

Round 1: Hill blocks a head kick and shoves an off-balance Gomes to the mat, looking for a front headlock. Gomes quickly uses the fence to get to her feet and trades knees to the body in the clinch. Jockeying for position. Quick trip puts Hill back on top with a minute to go. Gomes spins to her knees, strong control from Hill, who looks for the back. Gomes stands and Hill fires an elbow on the exit. Hard counter right from Gomes, who hits a throw but can’t establish. Hill hits her own but again can’t keep her down two minutes in. Lead uppercut from Gomes stings Hill and Gomes lands some heavy artillery against the fence until Hill ties up. Trading knees downstairs. Two minutes to go.

Nice elbow by Hill on the exit. Gomes body kick. Straight right catches Hill on the way in and Gomes follows with an outside trip to land on top. She immediately attacks Hill’s arm, looking to set up the armbar with a minute to go. Landing hammerfists as Hill defends. Hill explodes out and lands on top, eating a hard punch as she does. Half guard for Hill. 10-9 Gomes.

Round 2: Heavy right hand from Hill after some early exchanges. Another counter right. Gomes comes back with a head kick and flurry. Hill whiffs on a spinning back fist, Gomes whiffs on a wheel kick. Gomes seems like she might be fading a bit a minute in. Hill to the body. Nice left hook. She’s looking much faster and sharper than Gomes this round. Gomes wades after her, eats counters. Big uppercut from Gomes, Hill puts her on the fence. They separate two minutes in. Gomes definitely looking labored, nearly eats a spinning elbow. Hill consistently catching her with counters on the way in. Gomes threatens a guillotine to counter a reactive shot but gets hauled to the fence. Big elbow by Hill on the break with two minutes to go.

Body kicks from Hill, who catches a kick but doesn’t take top position. Low kick and lead right from Gomes, then some solid elbows before Hill puts her on the fence again. Trading inside with a minute to go. Gomes tries a slow-motion wheel kick and Hill ties up before landing a knee. Hill chips away in the clinch until the bell. 10-9 Hill.

Round 3: Gomes comes out throwing heat and Hill is happy to oblige, trading heavy punches and kicks before getting the body lock. Gomes tries to jump on a kimura and gets taken down for it. One minute in. Gomes makes it to her feet, eats knees, gets dragged back to her knees. Hill looking for the back, landing shots. Good knees and elbow on the way up. More clinch knees from Hill two minutes in. Hill beats her up in the clinch for a good while before separating with two minutes to go.

Easy ankle pick from Hill into top half guard. Hill gliding from position to position, landing shots as she does. One hook in with a minute to go. Gomes manages to sweep and stand with 20 seconds to go, only to eat a flush flying knee. 10-9 Hill.

Final result: Hill def. Gomes by unanimous decision


115 lbs.: Eduarda Moura vs. Montserrat Ruiz

Round 1: Moura shoots early, pulls guard, and uses a butterfly hook to sweep into top position. Half guard for her as Ruiz holds on tight. One minute in. Moura chipping away from the top. Two minutes in. Moura works to mount and postures up to drop some heavy punches before Ruiz regains half guard. Moura using the giftwrap to land more punches. Two minutes to go.

More punches from Moura. Hammerfists as well. She passes to half guard, lands elbows, then spins to the back. Blasting from mount now. Ruiz trying to get to her knees, eating punches as he does. She makes it up with a minute to go and nearly rolls free, but Moura out-scrambles her to land on top. More heavy punches. She ends the round in back mount. 10-8 Moura.

Round 2: They meet in the center and trade strikes. Ruiz falling way short with everything she throws. Lead rights from Moura, who catches a kick for an easy takedown into guard. Heavy punches and elbows a minute in. Moura looking for side control, then moves to mount at the base of the fence. She postures up and pounds away until the ref intervenes.

Final result: Moura def. Ruiz by TKO (punches)


155 lbs.: Marc Diakiese vs. Kaue Fernandes

Round 1: Fernandes orthodox, Diakiese southpaw. Fernandes tries a head kick, lands a body kick and low kick. Diakiese ties up, gets hauled to the fence. One minute in. Nice sacrifice throw from Diakiese puts him on top in guard. Fernandes turns for an omoplata two minutes in and uses it to sweep to his feet. Diakiese works his arm free and they reset in center cage. Slick kicks from Fernandes bounce off the guard. He catches an attempted wheel kick and takes Diakiese down, but an attempted back take allows Diakiese to slip in an underhook and land on top in guard with two minutes to go.

Fernandes turning, trying to get something going off of his back. One minute to go. Not much from Diakiese on top, just the occasional punch. 10-9 Fernandes; Diakiese didn’t strike or attempt a submission.

Round 2: Hard body kick from Fernandes after Diakiese misses some half-hearted kicks. Overhand left whiffs for the Brit, who eats another body kick. Left hand into a level change against the fence. One minute in. Fernandes reverses and they separate. He tosses aside an attempted level change. Body kick two minutes in. Overhand left by Diakiese glances off. Fernandes pops him with a counter right and briefly ties up. Hard low kick, body kick behind it. Diakiese tries a long-range shot and puts him on the fence, awkwardly wrenching him down via body lock to land in guard with two minutes to go.

Diakiese just blanketing from the top. Fernandes warned three straight times for grabbing the fence by the surprisingly bilingual ref. One minute to go. 10-9 Fernandes.

Round 3: Quick punches, good low kick from Fernandes. Glancing shot makes Fernandes slip. Diakiese shoots after eating a low kick and puts him on teh fence. One minute in. They separate. Lunging overhand from Diakiese. He ties up when Fernandes throws a kick, and when Fernandes tries a trip, it’s Diakiese who takes him down. Back in guard two minutes in. Light ground-and-pound from Diakiese. Two minutes to go.

More blanketing from Diakiese. Half guard with a minute to go. He lands a right hand, stuck back in guard. Fernandes works to his feet in the last 10 seconds and both whiff on big swings at the bell. He did a little more this round than before and Fernandes did a little less than before, so 10-9 Diakiese.

Final result: Diakiese def. Fernandes by split decision
