Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to its APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the UFC Vegas 57 mixed martial arts (MMA) event TONIGHT (Sat., June 25, 2022), streaming LIVE on both ESPN and ESPN+, headlined by the 155-pound showdown between top lightweight prospects Arman Tsarukyan and Mateusz Gamrot. Before that five-round clash of styles gets underway, grizzled veteran Neil Magny collides with fast-rising, 170-pound phenom Shavkat Rakhmonov in UFC Vegas 57’s co-main event. Thiago Moises, Umar Nurmagomedov and Rodolfo Vieira will also see main card action.

Round 1: Trading jabs to start. Reactive shot from Tsarukyan, Gamrot tries his own, Tsarukyan slips free. One minute in. Gamrot goes for a knee tap. Tsarukyan body kick. Tsarukyan times Gamrot’s low kick and takes him down. Gamrot works his way up and a wild scramble ensues two minutes in. Body lock for Gamrot. Knee from Tsarukyan, separation. Still firing body kicks, glancing head kick. Two minutes to go.

Gamrot tries a combo, eats a leg kick. He catches a body kick, can’t use it. One minute to go. Tsarukyan firing jabs, lands another hard body kick. Late shot from Gamrot and they scramble again. Front headlock for Tsarukyan. 10-9 Tsarukyan.

Round 2: Another body kick from Tsarukyan. Gamrot whiffs on an overhand left, eats a leg kick. Combination attempt. Head kick from Tsarukyan. One minute in. Quick exchange in center cage a minute in. Tsarukyan tries a 1-2 downstairs. Both men largely out of range with their punches. Loud body kick lands for Tsarukyan. Combination two minutes in. He shoots, denied. Gamrot jab and low kick. Round 3: Right back into the fray. Body shots form Gamrot inside. Right hand met by a Tsarukyan low kick. Jab exchange. Gamrot advancing, gets caught changing levels but still goes hard for an unsuccessful single-leg a minute in. Counter 1-2 lands for him. More kicks from Tsarukyan, Gamrot comes back with counters. Two minutes in. Nice takedown from Gamrot, can’t keep him down, holds a body lock. Knees to the bott. Gamrot drags him to a knee. Two minutes to go.

Tsarukyan works his way back up, can’t break the grip. Gamrot goes for another takedown on the exit. Both land in the center. Right cross by Gamrot. Tsarukyan now trying to lead. He shoots, denied, gets punched repeatedly in the face with a minute to go. Spinning back kick from Tsarukyan. Both land their power hands. Brief clinch. Tsarukyan body kicks. 10-9 Gamrot.

Round 4: Trading heat right away. Gamrot shoots, rebuffed, both try lefts on the break. Tsarukyan head kick. Huge 1-2 from Gamrot that Tsarukyan absorbs before coming back with a body kick. One minute in. Gamrot tries a knee tap, denied. Tsarukyan misses a kick, then knocks Gamrot down with a spinning back fist behind it. Gamrot going hard for the single-leg, gets the body lock with two minutes to go. Separation. Tsarukyan body kick. Gamrot stalking, lands a hard cross. Tsarukyan looks for a combo in return. Gamrot 1-2 as Tsarukyan tries a spinning elbow. Good 1-2 from Tsarukyan, another body kick but Gamrot bulldozes him to the mat. Tsarukyan gets to his feet, dragged back down. Gamrot gets a hook in with a minute to go. Tsarukyan manages to get it free and scoot to the fence. 10-9 Gamrot.

Round 5: Hard calf kicks from Tsarukyan. Gamrot lands a right hand, denies a shot a minute in. Hard counter right. He shoots and immediately looks for the back. Short right hands. Body lock two minutes in. Nice balance by Tsarukyan to separate. Gamrot ducks a spinning back fist and shoots, denied. Both try right hands on the break. Counter right by Gamrot. Tsarukyan body kick. Gamrot tries to shoot, rebuffed, lands a bdoy jab. Long right hand and jab. He shoots, can’t get it, tries again and gets sprawled on. Separation. 1-1-2 by Gamrot. One minute to go. Tsarukyan pressuring, lands a body kick. Gamrot jab. Counter right lands for him after eating another body kick. Another takedown from Gamrot, grabs the body lock. Tsarukyan unable to roll free. Now he sprawls. 10-9 Gamrot.

Final result: Gamrot def. Tsarukyan by unanimous decision


170 lbs.: Neil Magny vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov

Round 1: Both open with kicks. Rakhmonov catches one and uses it to get on top. Half guard after a brief punching volley. One minute in. He postures up for some heavy shots. Magny looks for upkicks two minutes in. Rakhmonov gets to side control, looks for mount, denied by the fence. Hard rights from Rakhmonov, who considers a guillotine before settling back in guard. Solid elbow with two minutes to go.

Magny looks for a leg, fires hammerfists off his back. Rakhmonov landing in transition. Magny still threatening the leg with a minute to go. Rakhmonov gets free and cracks him with an elbow in the waning seconds. 10-9 Rakhmonov.

Round 2: Rakhmonov catches another kick, tries a spinning back kick, ties up on the fence. One minute in. Takedown from Rakhmonov into side control. Two minutes to go. Magny tries to push off the fence, gets to his knees, tries a roll. Side control for Rakhmonov, briefly considers a d’arce. Two minutes to go.

Magny unsuccessfully trying to use the cage to stand. Short punches from Rakhmonov, threatening the guillotine. Hard shots with a minute to go. He jumps on a guillotine in the last 10 seconds and Magny taps just before the bell.

Final result: Rakhmonov def. Magny by submission (guillotine choke)


265 lbs.: Alan Baudot vs. Josh Parisian

Round 1: Trading jabs to start. Oblique kick from Baudot. Parisian 1-2, Baudot low blow. Parisian constantly threatening to spin. Baudot looks to club him inside. One minute in. Parisian leg kicks. Body kick. Baudot throwing some wonky haymakers. They trade on the fence. Both land low kicks. Clinch. Baudot counter jab two minutes in. Clubbing rights inside from Parisian in return, but as he tries to spin again, Baudot thumps him with a point-blank right hand and follows him down into half guard. Hammerfist, Parisian hunting a kimura, loses it. Tow minutes to go.

Knee to the body from Baudot, elbow up top. Back to full guard. Hammerfists piling up. Parisian manages to stand, eats a knee on the way. His eye is gruesome at this point. He ties up with a minute to go. Successful double-leg and he starts bombing away on a seated Baudot. 10-9 Baudot.

Round 2: More heavy clinch shots from Baudot. Parisian shoots, dumps him to the mat against the fence. Looking to take the back, dropping punches. Clubbing him from side control. One minute in. Parisian just continuing to punch. Baudot trying to work his way to his feet, does so. They separate two minutes in. Parisian wades back in with a body lock, nearly pulls Baudot down on top of himself but manages to get side control. Full mount, then the back. Two minutes to go.

The punches pile up until the ref steps in.

Final result: Parisian def. Baudot by TKO (punches)


155 lbs.: Christos Giagos vs. Thiago Moises

Round 1: Low kick from Moises. Giagos fires combos, has to fight off a single-leg. One minute in. Giagos still defending against the fence. Moises spins him down and looks for the back on the way up. Nice little foot sweep lets him get the body triangle. Playing backpack. Short little punches, looking for the RNC. He gets it under the chin and despite an imperfect grip, it’s enough to force a tap.

Final result: Moises def. Giagos by submission (rear naked choke)


135 lbs.: Nate Maness vs. Umar Nurmagomedov

Round 1: First clean strike is a low kick from Nurmagomedov. Maness tries to crowd his kicks with a combo, falls short. Another 1-2 comes up short a minute in. He punches into the clinch, ends up on his back in guard. Two minutes in. Nurmagomedov chipping away as Maness holds onto a body triangle. Two minutes to go.

Nurmagomedov still working, advances to half guard. One minute to go. Looking for mount late, can’t get it, drops punches. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Round 2: Nurmagomedov comfortably working behind his kicks. Reactive single-leg puts him on top in half guard. One minute in. Side control. He looks for mount, gets caught in half guard, regains side control. Two minutes in. Quarter guard, nearly to mount. Back to side with two minutes to go.

Maness regains half guard. Scramble with a minute to go, back to side control. Now the back, dropping heavy shots. Maness manages to get back to half guard and eats elbows for his trouble. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Round 3: Slick head kicks from Nurmagomedov. One minute in. Teep downstairs. Maness tries a combo, falls well short. Inside low kick catches him coming in. More body kicks from Nurmagomedov. He shoots two minutes in, gets him down with an inside reap into guard. Elbow raises a nice hematoma on Maness’ forehead. Side control, dropping elbows. Two minutes to go.

Maness tries to use the cage, regains half guard but continues eating shots. Back to full. Solid punches. One minute to go. Nurmagomedov still chipping away. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Final result: Nurmagomedov def. Maness by unanimous decision


185 lbs.: Chris Curtis vs. Rodolfo Vieira

Round 1: Low kick from Vieira. He shoots and a scramble ensues. Curtis defending with the whizzer, gets hauled to the fence a minute in. He takes a knee right to the jewels and it looks nasty, but he’s ready to go within a minute. Vieira low kick, shoots from too far out. Two minutes in. Another shot, trying to chain wrestle against the fence. Curtis manages to defend, then the shot afterward. Body shot. Two minutes to go.

Vieira low kick. Curtis lands a left downstairs. Hard 1-2 by Vieira gets Curtis’ attention, but he comes back with a straight left. Vieira fires a front kick and lands to Curtis’ beltline, and while Curtis calls it a low blow, the ref tells him to continue. Low-high lefts by Curtis. One minute to go. Vieira shoots, denied. They trade lefts. Solid body shots from both. Vieira jab, Curtis body shot. Both banging the body, Curtis follows with a left upstairs. 10-9 Vieira.

Round 2: More low kicks from Vieira. Curtis sneaks in a counter left, digs to the body again. Jab to single-leg attempt by Vieira. One minute in. More good defense from Curtis. Vieira swings hard on the break, eats a body shot, lands a jab. Curtis claims another low blow two minutes in, eats a hard 1-2. Nice sprawl and body shot. Vieira working behind the jab. Left hand exchange, Curtis body shot, Vieira straight right. Two minutes to go.

Vieira 1-2, Curtis body shot. Good exchanges in the center, Curtis finding the mark with straight lefts. Clean right from Vieira as well. Curtis tries a head kick. One minute to go. Round 1: Trading low kicks to start. Ulberg jabs the body. Nchukwi steadily advancing. One minute in. Hard counter hook rattles Nchukwi and Ulberg pours on the hurt for the quick stoppage.

Final result: Ulberg def. Nchukwi by TKO (punches)


145 lbs.: TJ Brown vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke

Round 1: Brown on the front foot as they get right to trading. Both landing well. Double right and knees by Brown. Low kick a minute in. Counter right from Nuerdanbieke, then a left hook and overhand that drop Brown. Brown answers with a level change, but gets reversed and ends up on his back in guard. Brown looks for a triangle, then an armbar, then a calf slicer two minutes in. Nuerdanbieke trying to crank on his foot at the same time. Nice scramble and they return to the feet. Left hook from Brown, spinning back fist and low kick from Nuerdanbieke. Two minutes to go.

Body kick and teep by Brown. Nuerdanbieke tries a low single, eats an uppercut. Left hook exchange. Brutal 3-2 by Brown, head kick attempt. He tries to time a knee, gets taken down for his trouble. One minute to go. Brown goes for a kimura in the final seconds that looks deep, but the bell interrupts it. 10-9 Nuerdanbieke.

Round 2: Nuerdanbieke low kick, BRown 1-2. Nuerdanbieke shoots, drags him down via outside reap and looks for the back. Brown looking for the switch a minute in, switches to a kimura. Nuerdanbieke again threatens the back, then pulls Brown’s base out when he tries to stand. Solid left hand. Brown lands his own double-leg two minutes in. Looking for the back himself. Two minutes to go.

Brown hunting the RNC but the angle’s bad. Better back control, another kimura attempt as Nuerdanbieke turns into guard. Fun fight so far. Triangle transition but Nuerdanbieke stacks. Brown gets the angle and squeezes, but Nuerdanbieke cracks him with lefts until the bell. 10-9 Brown.

Round 3: Trading jabs in the center. Overhand right from Nuerdanbieke, left hook from Brown. Hard 1-2 by Nuerdanbieke. Brown 1-2, smash hook just misses. One minute in. Stiff jab from Nuerdanbieke, tries to spin, eats a body shot. Brown really targeting the body but gets dragged down. Half guard for Nuerdanbieke. Staying tight two minutes in. Short elbow. Continuing to chip away. Brown tries to sweep, denied and eating elbows with two minutes to go.

There’s a successful sweep by Brown, who looks for the back but settles for half guard. One minute to go. Nuerdanbieke trying to scramble, unable to. Back to guard. Nuerdanbieke tries to kick him off, gets his back taken, slips out and takes Brown’s back. Brown reverses in the last seconds. Great fight. 10-9 Nuerdanbieke.

Final result: Nuerdanbieke def. Brown by unanimous decision


135 lbs.: Sergey Morozov vs. Raulian Paiva

Round 1: Paiva firing the jab, eats a left hook, then cracks Morozov with a heavy lead right. Morozov ties up against the fence. They separate a minute in. Paiva stalking, throwing heat. Another big right from Paiva. Big uppercut, nice combo, denies a shot. Morozov with a 1-2-3. Body kick, spinning back fist attempt. Two minutes in. Paiva grabs double unders for a moment. Continuing to attack. Morozov digs a left hook downstairs. Exchange of lefts. Short Morozov uppercut., then a counter right to answer a leg kick. Two minutes to go.

Paiva working behind a jab, eats a huge left hook as he connects. 1-2-3 from Morozov, then another hard hook. More Paiva jabs. Uppercut and left hook rattle Paiva. JAb behind it. One minute to go. Paiva’s body jab is nice. Both swinging hard. Tight left hook lands again for Morozov. Combination from Paiva to answer. Morozov tries to spin. 10-9 Paiva.

Round 2: Long right from Paiva. 2-3 from Morozov. Inside low kick, eats a knee and jab in return. Paiva takes a finger in the eye, doesn’t ask for a break. Lovely reactive double puts Morozov on top a minute in. Low mount stalemate. Butterfly guard. Elbow from Morozov. Two minutes in. Paiva scooting, Morozov staying attached in full guard. Paiva turns for a leg, denied. Two minutes to go.

Morozov wrenches him down into side control, looks for the back after a brief arm triangle scare. Good knee on the way up. Foot sweep attempt. One minute to go. Paiva turns to face him, threatens a guillotine, has to fight off another double-leg. Stalemate as Paiva tries to cinch up a guillotine. 10-9 Morozov.

Round 3: Morozov low kick. Lead left hook. Stiff jab from Paiva. 3-2 byMorozov, solid shot, Paiva defending. One minute in. Nice trip by Morozov, Paiva pops back up. Hard 3-2 from Morozov on the exit. Lead hooks as he circles. Paiva fires a long right. Jab exchange. Two minutes in. Paiva tries a 1-2, jabs the body. Brief clinch, good exchange. Paiva shoots, rebuffed. Jabs, spinning back fist, jabs by Morozov. Two minutes to go.

Morozov looking to counter. Paiva combos blocked. Morozov shoots, denied, lands to the body. Trading right hands. One minute to go. Hard counter right by Morozov. Continuing to trade. Round 1: Durden aggressive early, cracks Buys with a solid combination and denies a takedown to put him on the fence. Buys fires an elbow on the break, gets popped by another series of right hands that hurt him. Buys hits the deck and eats a few dozen hammerfists until the ref intervenes.

Final result: Durden def. Buys by TKO (punches)


135 lbs.: Mario Bautista vs. Brian Kelleher

Round 1: Wheel kick attempt from Bautista. Front kick from Kelleher grazes off. 1-1-2 by Bautista, flying knee attempt, low kick. Nice double-leg into side control, avoiding a guillotine. Half guard, now full. KElleher uses the fence to get to his feet. Foot sweep by Bautista, who avoids another guillotine two minutes in and looks for side control. Slick move to mount, then an immediate back take and RNC. Nicely done.

Final result: Bautista def. Kelleher by submission (rear naked choke)


115 lbs.: Vanessa Demopoulos vs. Jinh Yu Frey

Round 1: Frey on the front foot. Low kick attempt. 1-1-2 to the chest. One minute in. Demopoulos low kick. HArd 1-2 stings Demopoulos. Frey tries a 3-2. Demopoulos lead right two minutes in. She slips after circling out of danger. Hard lead right. Frey continuing to advance, getting outworked so far. Solid combination on the fence. She catches a kick, kicks Demopoulos’ leg out, then cracks her with a left on the way up. Two minutes to go.

Frey low kick. Falling short with her lefts. Well-timed shot by Demopoulos puts her on top with a minute to work. Frey works her way up, eats a knee. Separation. Double left by Frey. Low-high 2-3. Demopoulos pops her with a straight right. Close round. 10-9 Demopoulos?

Round 2: Lead right by Demopoulos, 1-2 from Frey. Demopoulos low kick. Frey lands a long left. Demopoulos shoots, sprawled on. One minute in. Heavy combo by Frey. Low kick. Demopoulos tries to go high. Brutal cross lands for her, her best of the fight. Two minutes in. Frey low kick. She frames to deny a takedown, tries a 1-1-2. Head kick. Two minutes to go.

Overhand right and jab land for Demopoulos, who avoids the counters. Triple jab from Frey. Demopoulos times Frey’s head kick and they start exchanging. Demopoulos lead right, Frey double left. One minute to go. Demopoulos shoots, denied. Knees in the clinch. Elbow on the break. Frey marches after her and eats a straight right. 10-9 Demopoulos.

Round 3: Knees from Demopoulos inside. Nice combinations and she hauls Frey to the fence, firing knees. One minute in. Single-leg attempt, denied. Frey fires elbows, eats more knees two minutes in. Separation. Body kick from Frey. 3-2 lands for her. Demopoulos 1-2. Harder 1-2 comes back at her. Counter left by Frey, right hook behind it. Two minutes to go.
