Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to its APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, TONIGHT (Sat., Feb. 4, 2023) with a special late night attraction, featuring a 265-pound showdown between two Top 15 contenders — Derrick Lewis (No. 7) vs. Serghei Spivac (No. 12) — a colossal showdown that was originally supposed to go down in Nov. 2022 before “Black Beast” withdrew last-minute (details here). In UFC Vegas 68’s co-main event, Da-Un Jung and Devin Clark will lock horns in a volatile 205-pound showdown. Elsewhere on the ESPN+-streamed card, the “Road to UFC” winners will be determined, with eight top up-and coming mixed martial arts (MMA) prospects from Asia from China, Japan, Korea, India, and Indonesia (in four weight divisions) competing for four UFC contracts.

Round one: Spivac sending out his jab in teh early going. Lewis tries to step in and Spivac head-and-arm throws him into scarfhold. Side control. One minute in. Lewis gets to his knees, eats some heavy shots that force him back down. Spivac takes mount, then the back. Potential arm triangle. He loses it, but muscles Lewis back down when the latter stands. Back down he goes two minutes in. Back up, back down. Again Lewis stands, again Spivac wrenches him to his knees and drops punches. Back up, back down. Spivac locks up an arm triangle in transition and there’s the tap.
Final result: Spivac def. Lewis by submission (arm triangle choke)
205 lbs.: Devin Clark vs. Da Un Jung
Round one: Clark barrels in for a quick takedown attempt. Knees to the thigh. Shoulder strikes as well. One minute in. Jung trying to frame, fires a knee. Elbow up top and he reverses. He drags Clark down and considers taking the back before Clark pops back up. Holding onto the rear waist lock. Two minutes in. More control from Jung. Hard elbow, then another after eating an uppercut with two minutes to go.
They separate. Both land left hooks. Lead elbow by Clark, then a nice double-leg. Jung works his way up and looks for an elbow on the exit. One minute to go. Sharp left hand by Clark, then another shot that Jung stuffs. Clark ends up on top and drops some good punches. Continuing to land until the bell. 10-9 Clark.
Round two: Both land low kicks. Jung tries a jump knee and Clark takes him down for it. Jung looking for the switch, gets it and grabs the body lock on the feet. One minute in. Good knee from Jung, but Clark yanks him down and lands some shots as he stands. Over-unders two minutes in. Both swing on the exit. Clark tries a head kick. Big overhand right. Low kick. Two minutes to go.
Clark shoots under a jab and puts him on the fence. Knees from Jung, short punches from Clark. Jockeying for position. More knees from Jung, elbow upstairs. One minute to go. Jung keeping him against the fence. Clark throwing shoulder strikes. Knees to the body answered in kind. 10-9 Clark.
Round three: Early shot from Clark. Solid shots on the exit. Overhand right to shot, denied a minute in. Clark shoots again, denied again, and this time Jung trips him into half guard. Jung staying heavy two minutes in. Looking for an arm triangle. Clark scrambles and slips out the back door when Jung tries to take his back. Clark trying to wrench him down, exits with a right hand. Two minutes to go.
Straight right from Clark, good combo behind it. He shoots again, denied again. Jung puts him on the fence, eats some shoulder strikes. Clark reverses, eats a knee, lands an elbow. One minute to go. Knee from Jung on the exit. They tie up and Jung tries a spinning elbow, only to eat punches on the exit. Clark pputs him on the fence again, eats knees, then tees off on the break. One last takedown for Clark. 10-9 Clark.

265 lbs.: Marcin Tybura vs. Blagoy Ivanov
Round one: Tybura switching stance. Front kick attempt. Solid body kick a minute in. Ivanov seemingly having issues with range. Tybura continuing to circle and switch stance. Two minutes in. 1-2, leg kick. Ivanov tries a 1-2 in return. Counter combo. Basically sparring so far. There’s a southpaw jab by Tybura, who eats some counters as he steps in for a body kick. Two minutes to go.
Tybura low kick, Ivanov counter left. Nice lead right by Tybura appears to buzz Ivanov, who comes back with a two-piece. One minute to go. Tybura leads to the body. Ivanov coming back with swings every time Tybura enters. Tybura had the best single shot, so I’ll edge it his way. 10-9 Tybura.
Round two: Nice overhand left by Ivanov kicks off a heavy exchange. Jab from Tybura. One minute in. Nice body shot, then a short hook. Long series of jabs. Fairly standard pattern so far: Tybura reaches in with a single shot and Ivanov immediately fires a bushel of counters. Tybura edging it out so far. Nice body kick met by an overhand left two minutes in. Ivanov takes a shin to the cup. Quick exchange when they resume. then a right from Tybura. Ivanov lands to the body as he blitzes with two minutes to go.
Big lead right from Tybura met with an equally big left hand. Another long right from Tybura. Counter flurry by Ivanov. Tybura body kick, Ivanov flurry. Tybura responds with some heavy combinations. One minute to go. Close-range exchange. Ivanov lands a body shot, eats a kick downstairs, comes back with another body shot and two-piece. 10-9 Tybura.
Round three: Tybura shoots in and hunts for Ivanov’s back. Trying to get a hook in. One minute in. Tybura briefly gets both hooks, loses them. Ivanov avoiding dominant positions but not doing much to escape. Two minutes in. Periodic shots from Tybura. Two minutes to go.
Tybura gets both hooks in. One minute to go. Ivanov makes a token effort to escape and removes the hooks. Knees to the thigh from Tybura. Ivanov stands before the bell. 10-9 Tybura.
Final result: Tybura def. Ivanov by unanimous decision
145 lbs.: Doo Ho Choi vs. Kyle Nelson
Round one: Solid low kicks from Choi to start. Nelson’s feeling them already. Choi fires a front kick and Nelson capitalizes to take him down against the fence. One minute in. Choi trying to work to his feet while seated as Nelson holds fast. Nelson looking for the back two minutes in. He uses a half-Nelson for a moment, then clamps down on a rear naked choke. Choi scrambles in response and lands on top in the crucifix. Back to standard side control. Two minutes to go.
Solid left from Choi. Nelson tries to regain half guard, can’t do so. Now he does with a minute to go. Choi settles for short punches, then an elbow before Nelson gets his guard back. 10-9 Choi? Think he did a little more damage.
Round two: They trade low kicks to start the round. Jab from Choi met by a combo. Nelson absorbs a low kick and clips Choi with a short right that wobbles him. Nelson tries to attack, eats a low kick for his trouble. Choi continuing to eat up that leg. He tries an awkward-looking shot a minute in. Nelson low kick met by a straight right. Hard low kick and right cross from Choi prompt Nelson to shoot from too far out. They scramble back to the feet and Choi puts him on the fence. Two minutes to go. They separate. More calf kicks from Choi. Nelson looking a bit winded, comes back with a body kick. Two minutes to go.
Hard 1-2 from Choi. Another through the guard. Yet another calf kick, then a liver shot when Nelson tries to swing big. 1-2. One minute to go. Body kick by Nelson. 1-2 by Choi in return, Nelson low kick to answer. Two more Choi low kicks before the bell. 10-9 Choi.
Round three: Early exchange and Nelson shoots in. Good scramble ends with them on the feet, Nelson holding onto a body lock. He changes levels and pulls Choi to his knees. One minute in. Choi returns to his feet. Knees to the thigh from Nelson. Nice double-leg finish. Two minutes in. Maintaining control at the base of the fence. Choi works his way up, then tries to spin to the back, ultimately landing on top in guard with two minutes to go.
Ref pauses the action over a light-looking clash of heads. He bizarrely decides to take a point from Choi despite it clearly not being a full-on headbutt and restarts it on the feet. Low kick and right hand from Choi prompt another shot from Nelson. One minute to go. Choi landing some short punches as he defends. Hard body shots. Nice elbows. 9-9 with the point deduction.
Final result: Majority draw
170 lbs.: Adam Fugitt vs. Yusaku Kinoshita
Round one: Both leading with kicks in the early going. Heavy right hook by Kinoshita prompts Fugitt to try and clinch. Kinoshita separates, then catches a kick and slings some heat. Fugitt pops him with a couple straight shots in return. One minute in. High kick catches Fugitt leaning and Kinoshita looks to follow up, but Fugitt shoots through and looks for the back. Nasty elbow by Fugitt after Kinoshita gets to his feet. Continuing to drive, again looks for the back. Two minutes in. He tries to lift, can’t do so, lands some hard knees. Kinoshita grabs the fence on the way down, gets warned for it. He manages to stand and separate. Two minutes to go.
Kinoshita continuing to stalk. Hard straight left drops Kinoshita and Fugitt tries to swarm, dragging Kinoshita to the ground. Solid lefts from Fugitt. One minute to go. Kinoshita spins to his knees, but Fugitt rides well and spins to Kinoshita’s back, dropping elbows until the ref intervenes.
Final result: Fugitt def. Kinoshita by TKO (elbows)
155 lbs.: Anshul Jubli vs. Jeka Saragih – “Road to UFC” Lightweight final
Round one: Hard low kicks from Saragih to start. Nice 1-1-2 from Jubli, which earns him a taunt. He shoots, eats a knee. Saragih framing to defend, gets taken to the mat a minute in. Elbow from Jubli. Low-high right hands. Saragih fires an elbow off his back two minutes in. Jubli continuing to land steady ground-and-pound. Nice elbow. Two minutes to go.
Saragih not showing much urgency to get to his feet, but throwing the occasional elbow. Jubli postures up and passes to side control, then mount. He bears down on an arm triangle with a minute to go, but Saragih somehow worms his way free and stands. Back to the leg kicks as Jubli looks to box. Near-miss on a spinning back fist from Saragih. 10-9 Jubli.
Round two: Saragih looks for an early head kick in combination, but gets taken down for it. Jubli looking for the back. One minute in. Knees and punches from Jubli as he secures back mount. Jubli looking to flatten him out, does so, drops punches. Jubli giftwraps Saragih’s arm to drop some heavy elbows, then settles in mount when Saragih tries to scramble. Saragih fighting to survive. Two minutes to go.
More ground-and-pound from Jubli. Nasty punches and elbows and in comes the ref.
Final result: Jubli def. Saragih by TKO (punches and elbows)
145 lbs.: Jeong Yeong Lee vs. Yi Zha – “Road to UFC” Featherweight final
Round one: Lee lands a quick 1-2 that prompts Yi to change levels and put him on the fence. Yi warned for grabbing the fence as he tries to utilize an underhook. Knee from Lee as he defends. They jockey for position a minute in. Yi gets to a rear body lock as Lee latches onto a standing kimura grip. Yi turns the corner and drags him to his seat. Two minutes in. Yi staying super tight against the fence. Lee makes it to his feet, Yi still attached. Two minutes to go.
Lee trying to break Yi’s grip, does so, and fights off a single-leg to put him on the fence in return. Yi reverses. Short body shot and knee. He tries a whizzer kick, no dice. One minute to go. Lee trying to pummel, eats an elbow. Yi backs off, lands a right hand, then changes levels again. Lee with some decent shots on one leg and Yi backs off. Fake shot to uppercut by Li in the waning seconds. 10-9 Yi.
Round two: Lee looks for a 2-1. Yi fires a double-leg, then looks for the back. He can’t get the second hook, so he puts Lee on the fence. Good elbow by Lee on the exit a minute in. Huge right hand from Yi. Lee grabs double unders when Yi changes levels again, but gets put on the fence regardless. Nice elbow from Yi, who eats some Browne-style elbows in return. Lee cracks him with a knee on the exit two minutes in. They hit a slow patch. Lee whiffs on a two-piece and avoids a Superman punch. Two minutes to go.
Nice body shot from Lee, who sprawls on the next shot. Yi shoots under a right hand to land in guard and drop a good elbow. Lee spins for an armbar, then lands an upkick on a grounded Yi. For some reason, the ref restarts them on the feet with a minute to go. They trade near the fence until Yi unsuccessfully shoots again. Stiff jab from Lee in the final seconds. 10-9 Yi.
Round three: Big uppercut from Lee in the early going and he looks to follow with a flurry before sprawling on a shot. Counter right to answer a body kick. One minute in. Nice lead right by Yi and they trade heat in the center. Long-range double-leg attempt. Lee briefly threatens a guillotine and lands a couple knees. They separate. Yi shoots again, lands a right hand and knee downstairs. Two minutes in. Elbow from Yi on the exit. Lee dips down for a right to the body, then cracks Yi with a right up top to prompt a shot. Yi jumps on his back, but falls over the top, and Lee uses the side control to jump on an armbar. Yi works his way out and lands on top with two minutes to go.
Sneaky elbow by Yi on the way up. Right hand into another takedown. Yi holding him against the base of the fence. Short elbow. Ref demanding action from Yi. Lee gets to his feet and starts stalking. Yi hits another takedown against the fence. Lee makes it to his feet and gets pulled to the mat in the final seconds. 10-9 Yi.
Final result: Lee def. Yi by split decision
135 lbs.: Toshiomi Kazama vs. Rinya Nakamura – “Road to UFC” Bantamweight final
Round one: Kazama marching forward as Nakamura unloads counter after counter. A hard check hook knocks Kazama to his seat, but he pops back up and continues his pursuit. This proves ill-advices, as he runs headlong into a straight left that has him stiff before he hits the ground.
Final result: Nakamura def. Kazama by KO (punch)
125 lbs.: Seung Guk Choi vs. Sung Hyun Park – “Road to UFC” Flyweight final
Round one: Slow opening minute aside from some Park low kicks. One minute in. Choi times a counter right to knock Park off-balance, then kicks at his legs. Two minutes in. Park firing upkicks. Ref stands them up for lack of action. Two minutes to go.
More low kicks from Park. 2-1. Low kicks. Choi lands his own low kick, then a counter right. Left hook from Park with a minute to go. Staring contest ensues. Park tries a front kick. One more leg kick. 10-9 Park.
Round two: Both land well in the center. Low kick from Choi. One minute in. Good low kicks from Park, inside and outside. Huge left hook met by a counter right from Choi. Choi catches a low kick and floors him with a big counter right, following him down into guard. Park looks for an armbar, no dice. Two minutes in. Park elbow, Choi right hand. Park uses the fence to get to his feet. Tossing out jabs. Two minutes to go.
Quick right hand from Choi, who eats a low kick and 1-2. They collide and Choi grabs a body lock, only to get blasted by a four-piece. Stiff jabs by Park, Choi lands one of his own. More jabs from Park and another low kick. One minute to go. Choi lead right. He ties up and they jockey for position on the fence. Anotehr heavy low kick from Park. Choi had the knockdown, but Park controlled the latter half. 10-9 Park.
Round three: Trading punches early. Low kick from Choi. He looks for a single-leg, denied, puts him on teh fence. Good right hand on the break catches Park spinning. Lead right lands as well a minute in. He changes levels once again. Park answers by spinning to the body lock and looking for the back. He slips off and Choi puts him on the fence again with double unders. Nice knee by Choi after getting an underhook two minutes in. Two minutes in. Park wants the back. One hook in. Full backpack, hunting the RNC. It takes a few adjustments, but Park finally locks it up to force the tap.
Final result: Park def. Choi by submission (rear naked choke)
185 lbs.: Junyong Park vs. Denis Tiuliulin
Round one: Tiuliulin on the advance. Park leaning on the leg kick early on, eats a body shot and comes back with a jab. Both men working behind the jab. Counter right from Park, absorbs a 1-2. Nice body shot by Tiuliulin a minute in. Park changes levels and hauls him to the fence, wrenching Tiuliulin down into mount after a couple of failed attempts. Threatening the guillotine against the fence. Two minutes in. Short body shots from Park. Nasty elbow opens Tiuliulin up. Two minutes to go.
More elbows from Park piling up. God, these are hard to watch. Tiuliulin gives up his back and there’s the RNC.
Final result: Park def. Tiuliulin by technical submission (rear naked choke)
125 lbs.: Jesus Santos Aguilar vs. Tatsuro Taira
Round one: Aguilar comes out hot, dropping Taira with a leg kick and latching onto his neck when Taira shoots in. Taira lands on top in half guard and looks to wait it out. One minute in. Aguilar still holding onto the grip as Taira patiently tries to work his head free. Two minutes in. Taira escapes and looks to isolate the far arm. Two minutes to go.
Full mount for Taira. Mounted triangle and he’s got it cinched in. One minute to go, Taira adjusts his legs, then latches onto Aguilar’s arm and cranks until Aguilar verbally submits.
Final result: Taira def. Aguilar by verbal submission (triangle armbar)
