‘The Monsoon’ Lorenz Larkin (13-0, 1NC) has the date of his Octagon debut set for this April at UFC on FOX 7 and will put his undefeated record on the line versus French fighter Francis ‘Limitless’ Carmont (20-7).
Officials with the Canadian office of the UFC announced the news on Twitter late Friday night (@UFC_CA).
– With 9 straight wins, MTL’s @franciscarmont will now face undefeated @da_MONSOON in his UFC debut on April 20 in San Jose at #UFConFOX7.
UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Melendez (aka UFC on FOX 7) is expected to take place on April 20, 2013 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. With several high-profile bouts on the card announced already it’s certain that Larkins vs. Carmont will appear on the television broadcasted Prelim card.
Larkin debuted as a middleweight inside the Strikeforce cage last July, picking up a decision win over heavy handed striker Robbie Lawler at the Rockhold vs. Kennedy show. ‘The Monsoon’ was then given a shot at the 185-lbs title and it’s champion Luke Rockhold but injury to the champ forced him off the card. Larkin was then linked to a fight with Ronaldo Souza for the final Strikeforce event but that match never materialized.
Carmont currently trains out of the Tristar Gym alongside UFC champ Georges St-Pierre, making his way to the camp in Montreal from France. ‘Limitless’ is riding a nine-fight win streak with four straight in the Octagon. His last appearance took place in November in Montreal at UFC 154. Carmont would go the distance with opponent Tom Lawlor and squeak out a split decision win. Previous victories include wins over Karlos Vemola, Magnus Cedenblad and Chris Camozzi.
