Two fights in seven days? You bet.

Talk about a quick turnaround.

COVID-19 protocols have prevented Sijara Eubanks from competing against Luana Carolina at this Saturday’s UFC Vegas 40 card. In Eubanks’ place is Mexican strawweight Lupita Godinez, who not only is moving up in weight but literally just fought last week at UFC Vegas 39.

Godinez (6-1) won via armbar against Silvana Gomez Juarez to notch her first win inside the Octagon. Her debut was a decision loss to former title challenger Jessica Penne. No one in modern UFC history has ever won consecutive fights in the span of one week, so that means if she pulls this off she’ll break the previous record set by Khamzat Chimaev and his 2-0 stretch over 10 days.

Carolina (7-2) is coming off a split decision win over Poliana Botelho, which was a nice bounce back after a nasty kneebar submission loss to Ariane Lipski. She earned her spot on the UFC roster through winning on Dana White’s Contender Series: Brazil.

UFC Vegas 40 is headlined by a women’s featherweight fight between short notice replacement Aspen Ladd and Norma Dumont.
