Vicente Luque and Randy Brown faced off in a Welterweight bout tonight (Sat., Aug. 1, 2020) at UFC Vegas 5 from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a dominant victory, Luque battered his opponent en route to a second-round knockout.

Luque opened the fight with a heavy calf kick. He absorbed a jab but landed a second one moments later. One more! Brown returned the favor with a kick of his own. Luque stuck his foe with a jab then dug into the calf twice more. Brown switched stance, fired a snap kick, then took another calf kick. Brown’s lead leg was getting CHEWED UP just 90 seconds into the fight. Luque glanced on a right hand and scored with a jab. Luque dropped his foe with a heavy overhand right! Luque allowed his foe back up. Brown looked to have recovered, but he wasn’t able to land anything significant enough to back his foe off. Clean counter left hand scored for Brown. Luque fired into the lead leg again. Luque staggered his opponent with a lunging left hook. Brown attempted a jump knee near the bell.

Brown scored with a good round kick to the body to begin the second round, but he ate a low blow in return. Luque found a home for his left hook. Brown jabbed back, ate a calf kick. Body jab scored for Luque, who then dropped his foe with a calf kick. Brown tried to establish the jab, but the low kick kept landing. Luque attempted a takedown, scored with his left hook on the break. Brown landed a couple hard knees in the clinch. Luque scored with a body kick, ate a counter spinning elbow. Brown started landing some straight shots! Big clinch takedown landed for Brown with a minute remaining. Luque scrambled back up quickly. Luque countered a takedown with a front head lock and landed a heavy knee to the jaw. Brown fell to the mat, and Luque teed off with some hammers to finish the bout.

Brown showed off some skill, but Luque really came in with a perfect strategy. He kicked apart his opponent’s lead leg, and once Brown was hesitant, he really stepped forward with his power shots. Finally, the finishing sequence was brilliant, as Luque held his foe up to land the legal knee.
