Congratulations are in order for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight Mackenzie Dern, who gave birth to a healthy baby girl on Sunday night. The longtime jiu-jitsu practitioner shared the happy news on Instagram.
“Our daughter, Moa, is here! June 9th at 8:25pm,” Dern wrote. “A little late, stubborn, american/brazilian, beautiful, perfect, God’s gift and our family’s biggest pride! Delivery was smooth and I had the most important people by my side! Welcome here my baby girl! We love you so much!”
Dern (7-0) has two wins inside the Octagon after crossing over from Invicta back in early 2018. Unfortunately, her weight cutting issues marred a dominant performance against Amanda Bobby Cooper roughly one year back.
No telling when the grappling ace will make her return to the Octagon, but like others before her (including this top bantamweight contender), priorities tend to change as the family continues to grow.
Time will tell.
