One bout was made official by the UFC promotion, and another was changed to a new card on Tuesday in a news release at UFC.com.
UFC officials made a light heavyweight bout between Fabio Maldonado (18-3) and Kyle Kingsbury (10-2, 1NC) official for the upcoming “The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale” in June. UFC President Dana White called the matchup “an absolute barnburner.”
Officials also moved a bout between Rich Attonito vs. Matt Brown from the “TUF 13 Finale” card to the UFC on Versus 4 event which takes place later the same month. The match was made official on Monday.
“The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale” will take place on June 4 at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and is headlined by a lightweight contender bout between Clay Guida vs. Anthony Pettis.
Maldanado has won eleven straight bouts which includes his UFC debut back in October. He faced former “TUF” competitor James McSweeney at UFC 120 in London, earning a third round TKO victory over the Brit. The Brazilian is a former undefeated professional boxer and now makes his way as a mixed martial artist, winning 12 of his 18 by (T)KO, 3 by submission, and 3 by decision.
His opponent, Kingsbury, was first introduced to UFC fans on the eight season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and was part of Antonio Nogueira’s team. He would lose a unanimous decision at the events Finale back in December of 2008, but since then he’s won three straight fights. His last octagon appearance was just last month at UFC 126 when he stopped Ricardo Romero at 21 seconds of round one by TKO.
