Paulie Malignaggi has some words for fans who continues to defend Conor McGregor’s actions and indiscretions.
Two-division world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi is not known to mince his words. In a recent interview with The Schmo, “Magic Man” was asked about the recent controversy involving UFC star Conor McGregor, who allegedly assaulted Italian DJ Francesco Facchinetti.
Malignaggi didn’t spare anybody on this one, including die-hard “Notorious” fans who continue to show their support.
“At a certain point, anybody defending this guy is… they got little bit too much p-ssy in them. If you’re defending these actions, you probably got a little too much p-ssy in you. I think you’re trying to vicariously live through a guy that you probably wish you could be like, but you can’t,” he said.
“That’s the only reason you could ever defend certain actions, punk actions from a guy like that. And he is. He’s a punk. Because anytime somebody reacts to him, resists to him in any form of combat, he’s always folding.”
Former UFC champion Michael Bisping recently spoke out on the McGregor-Facchinetti dispute where he called out the Irishman for being a “bully.” Malignaggi shares a similar sentiment, based on his own firsthand experience.
“He doesn’t go off the rails. He knows who he can bully,” Malignaggi said of McGregor. “Because if you’re the kind of person who goes off the rails, you go off the rails and sometimes you go off the rails even when it’s at your detriment. It might be your risk.
“For example — and I gotta say it — I was in his face in Vegas. I said ‘Where’s your balls? Bring your balls.” A guy who goes off the rails is gonna hit me there, right? A guy who hits a guy in a pub, a guy who hits the poor DJ…
“I gotta say, this is not a guy who goes off the rails. He purposely does these things. He went after Machine Gun Kelly at the Barclays Center. I feel like if this is a guy that goes off the rails, you go off the rails no matter what. But why were you controlling yourself with me, bro? ‘Cause you know you’re gonna get a punch back in the mouth?”
The 40-year-old Malignaggi has been retired from active competition since 2019 after he fought McGregor’s close teammate Artem Lobov in bare-knuckle boxing and lost by decision.
Recently, he stepped inside the boxing ring for an exhibition match with TikTok star Corey B. He won the three-round contest on the judges’ scorecards.
