Fans of ‘The Super Samoan’ Mark Hunt (9-7) will certainly rejoice at this news as the heavyweight has agreed to meet former UFC champ Junior dos Santos (15-2) this coming May in the co-main event of UFC 160.

Hunt and UFC president Dana White apparently worked out the details on Friday which will allow Hunt to step in as a replacement for an injured Alistair Overeem.

News of the bout was first reported by MMAFighting.com early Saturday morning who quoted Hunt as saying the fight was “my title shot.”

UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot II is expected to take place on May 25, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will see UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez face off with Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in a rematch from a year ago which saw Velasquez win by TKO.

Hunt is coming off a “Fight of the Night” winning technical knockout victory earlier this month after squaring off with Stefan Struve in the co-main event of UFC on FUEL TV 8 in Japan. The win was Hunt’s fourth straight and put’s his record at 4-1 in the Octagon.

Dos Santos lost the UFC heavyweight title to Velasquez in their rematch last December, losing by decision at the Vegas event. The defeat ended a ten fight win streak for ‘Cigano’ who won the title over Velasquez the year before at UFC on FOX 1.
