Martin DesiletsFans not familiar with The Fight Club light-heavyweight champion, Martin “The Stress” Desilets (10-2), may become much more familiar with the French Canadian fighter if he puts on a good performance this Friday night. A win might vault Desilets into a Bellator Fighting Championship cage in the near future.

Desilets will defend his title in a rematch with former UFC fighter Victor “The Matrix” Valimaki (16-6) in the main event of The Fight Club’s latest event, “TFC 11: Full Force”, at the Shaw Conference Center in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Quebec fighter defeated Valimaki at the last TFC event in March of this year by TKO (punches) in the first round.

The MMA News had a chance to speak with “The Stress” through his interpreter at the TFC 11 weigh-ins to talk about his title defense, as well as his future.

The MMA News: How do you feel about your rematch with Victor Valimaki?

Martin Desilets: I feel really good about it and I can’t wait.

The MMA News: Do you think this fight will be similar to the first one?

Martin Desilets: If he’s aggressive I think it could be done in the fist round. I’ll go hard too, but otherwise I’ll go with the flow.

The MMA News: If you get another win over Valimaki, what do you think is next for you?

Martin Desilets: I had a call already from Bellator (Fighting Championships), so I’m just getting my paperwork ready and I might go to Europe for a little bit also.

The MMA News: If you could face anyone, who would your dream opponent be?

Martin Desilets: There are too many great fighters to name just one opponent, but Krzysztof Soszynski (is someone I’d like to face).

The MMA News: Since were talking about Bellator, is there anyone you’d like to debut against?

Martin Desilets: I really don’t know the fighters in Bellator, but I’m willing to face anyone.

The MMA News: With the sanctioning of mixed martial arts in Ontario, could fans expect you to fight more often in that province in the future?

Martin Desilets: Yes, for sure I’d fight in Ontario. If I’m given the right fight and the right price, I’ll go. Fighting close to home will let my friends and family come out to watch me fight, but we’ll have to wait and see.
