Masvidal Calls Out ‘Easy’ McGregor

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal, now ranked No. 3 after stiffening Ben Askren at UFC 239, is hoping to leapfrog Colby Covington and earn a division title shot against Kamaru Usman when “The Nigerian Nightmare” makes his Octagon return in November.

But if “Chaos” thumps Robbie Lawler this August on ESPN and draws the next crack at the welterweight crown, then “Gamebred” is willing to settle for an “easy” paycheck (and easy fight) against former lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

“I want McGregor,” Masvidal told Dan LeBatard (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “I want to break his face. I think that’s an easy paycheck. He’s got these cash symbols written all over his face for me. I just don’t see it going his way if I’m honest with you.”

While surely a fan-friendly fight, no decision will be made on the future of McGregor until Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier unify the lightweight titles in the UFC 242 main event this September in Abu Dhabi.

Consider the division frozen … like the chicken!

“He backs down. He taps. I’ve never tapped in my whole entire career,” Masvidal continued. “He’s tapped a couple times so that’s backing down in my book. It’s something I’ve never done and I feel like I’d break him. It would be an easy fight.”

If McGregor is unavailable, I hear this guy is out collecting welterweight rent.
